Rauland-Borg, manufacturer of the leading multi-media management system for K-12 schools, will be including NASA video content with Telecenter CPS.
The NASA material is designed to drive interest and achievement in math, science and technology.
Rauland-Borg, the leader in communications and media management solutions for
K-12 schools, announced today that it will include popular National Aeronautics
and Space Administration (NASA) educational videos with the purchase of its
multimedia Telecenter® Curriculum and Presentation System (CPS) . The selection
will include NASA’s acclaimed Destination Tomorrow™, Connect™,
Science Files™ and Kids Science News Network™ series.
The programming, created by the NASA Langley’s Center for Distance Learning,
uses the administration’s research in aeronautics, atmospheric sciences
and space. “Companion materials, available directly from NASA, include
teaching guides, 30-minute programming, interactive web projects and news programming.”
stated Ken McQuillen, Product Manager for Telecenter CPS. “Together with
the onboard NASA videos, these programs are engineered to inspire student interest
in math, science and technology.“
The NASA suite includes a full range of programming for K-12 classrooms:
- NASA’S Kids Science News Network (KSNN)™, one-minute “newsbreaks”
promoting curiosity among K-4 students by answering “Why is the sky
blue?” questions .
- NASA SCIence Files Series™, highly engaging Emmy-award winning series
of 60-minute videos designed to enhance teaching of math, science, geography
and technology for grades 3-5.
- NASA Connect™, an integrated package of math, science and technology
programs, incorporating 30-minute broadcasts, hands-on and web activities
for grades 6-8hands on and web activities Rauland would not offer.
- Destination Tomorrow™, intended for older students and adults, is
a series of 30-minute educational programs that focuses on medical breakthroughs,
new technologies, past achievements and advanced aerodynamics.
Telecenter CPS is a centralized multimedia management system that enhances
education and student achievement by delivering educational videos/programming
to the classroom or individual learner. CPS is a single, easy-to-use portal
for teachers, integrating existing media libraries (DVD, VHS, and LaserDisc)
with streaming videos (digital video files) into a single unified system. The
video content can be delivered over an in-house RF network to televisions/projectors
and/or streamed over the data network to the classroom workstation (PC or Mac).
Designed for individual schools or entire districts, Telecenter CPS uses a comfortable
web-based interface that transforms any classroom or workstation into a threshold
for engaged learning.
