AUDIO-TECHNICA FOR ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

For the eighth year in a row, Audio-Technica microphones were chosen for the internationally televised VH1 broadcast of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

A-T supplied over 50 mics to capture the audio for one of the most celebrated music events of 2005, held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honours legendary performers, producers, songwriters, DJs and industry notables. The 20th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony honoured The O'Jays, the Pretenders, Percy Sledge, Buddy Guy and U2. The event was held on March 14th, with a VH1 broadcast of the ceremony premiering March 19th.

Audio-Technica’s acclaimed Artist Elite® 5000 Series UHF Wireless System was used during the induction ceremony for vocals by The O’Jays, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Percy Sledge, Bo Diddley, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis and Paul Shaffer. Additionally, a selection of hardwired A-T microphones was also utilized including the AE2500 (bass guitar amps), AE5100 (hi-hat), ATM35 (horns) and AT4050 (overheads and guitar amps).

Mitch Maketansky was once again the Hall of Fame’s choice as Audio Coordinator, responsible for organizing and assigning all the inputs and microphones for the event. Grammy® Award winner John Harris was Lead Engineer for recording specialists Effanel Music, the mobile recording company that both recorded the program and mixed the broadcast, while Jay Vicari was the Mix Engineer.

Commenting on the use of the Audio-Technica microphones for the eighth year in a row, John Harris stated, “When you only have one shot to capture an artist’s performance, there is no room for error, which is why I use Audio-Technica. Their microphones deliver flawless performances show after show. I’ve been using the 5000 Series wireless for the past few years, and they continue to provide clean, consistent high-quality audio, as well as being super dependable; hence, I have a higher confidence level with A-T than with other systems. In addition, A-T’s unparalleled level of company support is second to none, which ultimately lets me concentrate on mixing rather than having to worry about the equipment.”
