Microsoft launches e-learning programme

Self-study courses in Microsoft business technology become available online.

Microsoft has announced the launch of its E-Learning programme with official curriculum courses in designing, implementing and managing Microsoft technology available online in the UK for the first time.

Microsoft's E-Learning programme provides its Certified Partners for Learning Solutions with rich content for blended-learning programmes. The programme also allows IT professionals to study alone towards industry-recognised certifications.

Learning online means that IT professionals can work through courses at their own pace and at a time and place convenient to them. Courses are available on the E-Learning programme for IT workers to update skills and prepare for certification exams and new technology projects.

Microsoft's Certified Partners for Learning Solutions welcomed the move and have begun integrating E-Learning content into their training programmes. Partners will be able to host and brand the service themselves.

Duncan Anderson, skills development manager at Parity, said: "Courses on the Microsoft E-Learning programme are a rich and valuable resource for training partners. Modern business demands flexibility in the delivery of IT training to workers, and online courses address this need perfectly."

He continued: "An effective training programme will consist of a variety of instructional methods, such as class-based sessions and work from course books. Microsoft's online courses make a great addition to our blended-learning training programmes."

Ram Dhaliwal, manager for training and certification at Microsoft said: "Feedback from our certified training partners, customers, and the training industry as a whole showed us that there was a clear demand for online training courses in Microsoft technology. The Microsoft E-Learning programme adds a great service to our portfolio of learning resources for IT professionals and developers."

The courses comprise animations, simulations, games and quizzes, which are designed to engage participants and aid the retention of key information.

Courses on the E-Learning programme are available in the UK from Microsoft's Certified Partners for Learning Solutions.
