Saul designed such pillars of the company as the 512 mic preamp, the 550A equalizer and even the blue API 'spears' logo. Saul started API circa 1966-67 with about 15 employees. Having re-introduced the 550A at last year's AES, using Saul's original designs, API thought it only appropriate to ask him to come to AES and meet to our customers and friends. Saul visited the API plant several months ago, where API's director of engineering, Jeffrey Bork, spent time with him discussing engineering techniques and how API can continue to stay true to the brand as we move further into the digital age.
