McNally Smith Alum Wins Two Minnesota Music Awards




Heiruspecs drummer Peter Leggett wins Hip Hop Group and Album of the Year

St. Paul, MinN. (September 22, 2005) — McNally Smith College of Music alum Peter Leggett and his band Heiruspecs were honored as the Hip Hop Artist/Group of the Year at the 25th Annual Minnesota Music Awards, held last night at The First Avenue Nightclub in downtown Minneapolis. The band also took home the award for Hip Hop recording of the year for their album A Tiger Dancing.

Leggett was one of three McNally Smith alumni and one faculty member to be up for a 2005 MMA award. The other nominees included:

Drummer/Percussionist: Charles Gehr

Sound Technician: Randy Hawkins

Bass Player: Jeff Bailey

McNally Smith alumni MMA award winners for 2004 included Alicia Wiley and Ian Anderson.
