Rubberband and Primal Scream Form Creative Alliance with Ramin Djawadi, Simone B

Santa Monica, CA (Jan. 07, 2004) -- RubberBand and Primal Scream today announced a creative alliance with film composers Ramin Djawadi, Simone Benyacar, Jerry Brunskill and Todd Haberman for commercial and film trailer projects. These artists are rising stars in the cinema space, having composed music for the blockbuster films 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'The Recruit' and for hit TV programming 'Saving Jessica Lynch,' 'The Practice,' 'American Dreams' and 'JAG.' These composers are the latest to be recruited by Primal Scream and RubberBand, who have been actively connecting up-and-coming stars of the music and film worlds into music for commercials, trailers and the branded entertainment space.

'These young composers are steadily conquering film and TV with some of the most haunting, exhilarating and emotionally charged music I've heard in a long time. Naturally it's a thrill to be the conduit for crossing them over into commercials,' said Nicole Dionne, Creative Director, RubberBand and Primal Scream. 'Their entrée into the commercial scene comes at a time when spots are gradually moving away from the 15- and 30-second format, so their film experience brings not only a sophisticated and polished sound, but enables them to adeptly transition into these exciting new mediums and formats.'

Prior to formalizing this alliance, composer Ramin Djawadi's first project through RubberBand and Primal Scream was a recent Ford F150 campaign with director Eric Saarinen and Zubi Advertising. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass., Djawadi's has collaborated with top directors, including Gore Verbinski, for whom he scored several pieces for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.' Djawadi has also composed music for director Roger Donaldson for 'The Recruit' and Kathryn Bigelow for 'K-19: The Widowmaker.' His most recent project was scoring the NBC movie-of-the-week "Saving Jessica Lynch.'

'Even though a commercial is generally only 30 or 60 seconds, it's similar to composing music for film in that you still need to develop a musical arc to help tell the story. It's a lot of fun to come up with ways to make that happen, given the short format,' said Djawadi. 'And being a film composer, I always write as if I am composing music for the big screen not by necessarily making the sound more grand but by making the score broad enough to encompass a central theme recognizable throughout the spot.'

'I am so excited about this collaboration with Primal Scream and RubberBand. Not only because they land great projects, but because the creative freedom of the commercial medium will allow me to explore different types of music from techno to orchestral, which is any composer's dream.' Djawadi concluded.

Todd Haberman comes to the company having scored numerous films, including 'The Touch,' 'Crocodile Dundee III' and 'Cecil B. Demented' as well as the made-for-TV movies 'Dark Targets' and 'Lip Service.' His music can be heard on the TV shows and specials 'Best of VH1 Live,' 'Cover Wars,' 'Just Deal,' 'Spend It Fast,' 'Ali: The Greatest' and 'Cult TV Stars.' He has composed commercial music for clients including Hummer, Coca-Cola, Sony Playstation, Miller Genuine Draft and Toyota.

Hailing from Milan, Italy, Simone Benyacar began his music education at the legendary Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi. In 1995 he moved to the United States and continued his studies at UCLA, obtaining a degree in Music Composition and Musicology and later, a certificate in Music Business and Sound Engineering. His most recent work includes music for trailers for 'Lord Of The Rings: Two Towers' and 'Sylvia' and music supervision for the feature 'New Suit.'

Composer Jerry Brunskill's original songs are heard on the television shows 'JAG,' 'Without A Trace,' 'Hack,' 'Crossing Jordan,' 'American Dreams,' 'Once & Again' and 'The Practice.' He has also worked extensively in music videos, with projects in sound design and engineering for U2 and DMX and features, with the Academy Award-winning film 'Fargo' and 'The Indian In The Cupboard.'
