GAINESVILLE, GEORGIA: The newly formed company, Danley Sound Labs, located in Gainesville, Georgia has added the Vortex subwoofer to its TH range of lightweight,
tour-friendly loudspeaker products, which now includes the TH-28, TH-112 and TH-115.
The TH-Vortex, also known as the "Twister," is a tapped horn subwoofer
that offers high efficiency and sub-30Hz performance in a cabinet designed for
ease of truck packing and maneuverability. Practically every model is available as a powered analog or digital unit using Class D audiophile power.Measuring 40" x 22.5" x 40" and fitted with casters for easy
load-in and load-out, the TH-Vortex sensitivity is 102dB SPL at 35Hz, measured
conservatively at 28.3V input 1/2 space@10m distance. It generates
(calculated) up to 138dB SPL peak at 35Hz and 148dB in the 100Hz area. Power
capacity is 1000 Watts RMS, 2000-Watts program.
The smallest of the TH range, the dual eight-inch driver TH-28, at just
30.5" x 20.5" x 11" is one of the most powerful subwoofers for
its size,
generating 130dB SPL peak (calculated). It has a minimum sensitivity of
98dB@47Hz, (conservatively measured at 28.3V input 1/2 space@10m distance).
The TH-28 operates across the range 43Hz-162Hz (-3dB) and offers
low-frequency pattern control extending below 100Hz through the addition of
a second TH-28 woofer without compromising output or additional signal
processing expense. As is the case in several of the TH models, the
enclosures feature a movable panel that allows the acoustical output to be
on either a side or end depending on its desired use.
The TH-112 is a high-output, single 12-inch driver subwoofer system that
utilizes Tom Daley's newest sub designs. It is also one of the most powerful
subwoofers in existence for its size. The TH-112 offers a frequency range of
28Hz-208Hz and a maximum output of 130dB SPL peak at 38Hz and 136dB peak in
the 80Hz range (calculated). The sensitivity is 101dB at 38Hz and 107.5dB at
85Hz (measured at 28.3V input 1/2 space@10m distance), and has a recommended
power input of 800W program.
The compact touring TH-115 is the ideal subwoofer for many applications
because of its compact size, lightweight, truck pack friendly dimensions,
maneuverability and remarkable efficiency. It is reminiscent of the old
"scoop" enclosures except it goes down really low while sounding great.
Attached casters make the unit easy to move. The TH-115 measures 40" x
22.5"
x 28" and is outfitted with a single 15-inch, long excursion driver, the
TH-115 is capable of producing a real world performance of over 140dB at
39Hz.
Noted Danley, "I've been designing horns for longer than I like to think
about. What's unique about the "tapped" horn is that it allows such
a
significant reduction in the horn size. If your dealing with bass, this can
make a huge difference in how large your low frequency system is, or, what
you can get from a limited space. There has always been a way to get the
bass if you've had the space. With my new designs, you can get fantastic
bass in less space.
Tom Danley is one of the most innovative loudspeaker designers in the
industry today and is recognized worldwide as a pioneer for "outside the
box" thinking in professional audio technology. His legendary designs have
been utilized in projects ranging from ground zero bombing simulation, jet
engine active noise cancellation, and sonic boom generators to critical
listening mastering studios, high-end home theatre, and houses of worship
around the world.
