TC Applied Technologies Ltd. and Presonus Audio Electronics Inc. today announced the conclusion of a licensing agreement that will see TC's JetPLL TM used in future Presonus products. TC's JetPLL TM (Jitter Elimination Technology Phase Locked Loop) provides a robust, low gate-count clock regeneration solution for networked digital audio devices.
"Distributing digital audio means distributing both the clock and the data. This has been an issue in Pro Audio and High-end consumer electronics for more than a decade" says Fred Speckeen, Director of Business Development, TC Group A/S. "Without cleaned or regenerated clocks in networked digital audio gear we rapidly begin to notice impaired fidelity and even the collapsing of the stereo field. The traditional and expensive solution is to add VCXOs or complex sample rate converters to the design. JetPLL TM is a low-cost alternative that is fast-locking, and has a 30-100 KHz range to accommodate all digital audio formats. It is scaleable to video as well, and can be implemented on FPGA or in as little as 20k gates of CMOS".

We evaluated the JetPLL in TCAT's 1394 Firewire chip, DICEII, and found that it significantly improved the sound, not just when used with 1394 but with any digital audio format.
