Digidesign is proud to announce
version 2.0 of the Massenburg DesignWorks Hi-Res Parametric EQ,
developed by the creator of the parametric EQ, George Massenburg.
This
new version of the acclaimed MDW(r) Hi-Res Parametric EQ plug-in for
Digidesign(r) Pro Tools|HD(r) systems delivers the same reference
standard sound as the original while offering a new user interface,
five- and three-band versions, improved DSP efficiency, and
significant workflow enhancements.
Customers will be pleased with the new features in version 2.0: An
enhanced user interface makes functions easier to see and more
intuitive to use, while the inclusion of three- and five-band versions
allows precious DSP resources to be conserved when only three bands
are needed. DSP efficiency has also been optimized so more copies of
the plug-in can be instantiated in each session.
Unique to MDW version 2.0 is a function called IsoPeak, which lets
users isolate and sweep through the frequency spectrum to find the
targeted frequency with just a click of the band button. "I'm always
asked how to use a parametric EQ," explains Massenburg. "With IsoPeak,
we can make that process much more intuitive and provide users with a
built-in, one push-button lesson in how to get the most out of the
Parametric EQ." Other additions include a Phase Invert function, plus
A/B snapshots for toggling between two separate EQ settings and
copying one snapshot setting to the other. "I never try to do
something 'cool,'" jokes Massenburg, "but accidents sometime happen."
Like the original, version 2.0 delivers its outstanding sound by
using double-precision 48-bit processing and high-resolution 96 kHz
sample-rate processing. Even when working in sessions at 44.1 or 48
kHz sample rates, MDW Hi-Res Parametric EQ processes audio at 88.2 and
96 kHz respectively, producing high-resolution audio, fewer artifacts,
and more-predictable filter curves. MDW Hi-Res Parametric EQ emulates
the constant shape reciprocal filter curves of the GML 8200the
industry-standard reference. It also features selectable bands, a wide
frequency selection (from 10 Hz to 41 kHz), and variable Qs from 25.6
to 0.1 (1/18th of an octave to 6 2/3rd octaves). The EQ also supports
192kHz sessions.
To purchase MDW Hi-Res Parametric EQ 2.0, customers should visit the
online DigiStore (store.digidesign.com) or their local Digidesign
Authorized Reseller. Owners of MDW Hi-Res Parametric EQ version 1.x
can upgrade to 2.0 for $125 through the online DigiStore.
