Chart success has become a regular feature in Guy Katsav’s busy life.
Not only is he engineering at the renowned Soho Recording Studios in
central London, but he’s also been recording some of the biggest acts
in the UK – not to mention some of the coolest, such as NME award-
winners The Gossip and Brazilian Punk-Disco supremos CSS.
All this is since graduating from SAE Institute back in 2004, but
Guy’s most recent success comes as a result of engineering Scottish
act The View. He can’t take all of the credit for the chart-topping
album, but he is responsible for four of the tracks, including ‘Same
Jeans’, the indie-guitar-stomper that peaked at number 3 in the UK
Singles Chart.
Guy puts his success down to hard work and a passion for music, but
in addition he acknowledges the role his education has played in his
rise to the top, having completed SAE London’s Audio Engineering
Diploma course in 2004. But even with his phenomenal success Guy’s
reluctant to stop learning – only last year he returned to SAE London
to complete a degree in Recording Arts alongside his continuing work
at Soho Recording Studios. “In terms of audio engineering, SAE put
everything in the right place in my head – and that’s what makes the
difference between semi-pro and pro.”
