SAE London invest in new Neve DFC PS1

SAE Institute show they are committed to giving their students the very best training by acquiring the finest industry standard tools.

London, UK: SAE Institute are already the established world leader in providing degree-standard audio, film and multimedia education, but with the acquisition of a Neve DFC PS/1 they’ve ensured their film production students are receiving the best training for the industries they’ll be working in.

The Neve DFC system is the world’s premier console system, and as such is used on the world’s biggest movie productions. Consequently many ‘Hollywood’-style blockbuster films are mixed on DFC consoles. The DFC consoles found in those studios are often several metres wide and require several operators, such is the scope for creative mixing.

Neve’s DFC PS/1 console offers all of the same features, just in a smaller footprint. It’s capable of achieving the same results and is operated in exactly the same way, so anyone who learns to mix on the PS-1 will be able to operate any DFC console in top flight mixing studios the world over.

SAE have installed the new Neve console in their London campus, and they will start teaching current students and alumni members these valuable skills in the coming weeks. And there’s even the possibility that they will conduct commercial workshops for professionals – such is the rarity of the Neve DFC PS/1 in educational facilities. Students will also receive Neve DFC certification.

About the Neve PS/1

Derived from the legendary Digital Film Console (DFC) which dominates the world's highest profile film studios, PS-1 is by far the most accomplished mid-range digital film and TV dubbing/post production console available today. With a large and growing user base, the PS-1 is the standard among the world's premier TV post facilities. From the outset, the PS-1 was designed for optimum mix performance. At the heart of the console is DSP, the world’s most powerful mix engine, capable of delivering the legendary Neve sound across 1,000 audio signal paths at 96kHz, 24-bit in a single, high-resolution DFC signal-processing tower. No other digital post-production console can offer the sheer power required to handle the demands of tomorrow’s content.

SAE was recently awarded Skillset Media Academy status by the Government and is one of only 17 such academies in the country to gain this recognition. Creative Media Education
