SlaughterHouse are the Nottingham based Hip-Hop artists with an R n’ B vibe. Incorporating influences from across the alternative music scene - from old school Hip Hop to rock metal - SlaughterHouse are breathing much needed life into the national corpse of Hip-Hop culture, exposing the industry to a transfusion of new blood.
Long dominated by their American cousins the UK music industry has paid lip service to a growing demand in Hip Hop culture. With some serious mouth to mouth since their 2003 debut, SlaughterHouse continue to threaten the balance with their successful monthly live performances from the Lincoln Hip Hop scene to the Nottingham music festival, with special guest slots courtesy of funk band Fat Digester adding to their growing reputation.
Following their recent success Slaughters’ promotional only EP with its combining synthesis of heavy chorus lines, frontal G-funk, semi-rock influences and softer R n’ B vibe has prompted an official release – leading to whispers of WOMAD and the pinning of Slaughters banner to an otherwise star spangled heavens.
Combined with the much-anticipated first album including tracks Deceived, Back Then, A Mean Style and 1st Lady tongues have taken to tripping the queue for first taste of a unique flava from the slaughtering stable. Producer Psyko explains ‘With Fox Slaughterhouse has the face of the future for UK Hip Hop and 1st Lady has the voice to melt the darkest heart. And then there’s G – The Slaughterhouse DJ – our secret weapon!’
Weapons indeed…while not forgetting old-fashioned family values; an enigma explains Psyko: ‘SlaughterHouse has the tried and tested formula of the leads being inseparable siblings, a popular potency in the present climate - a real marketing dream.’
…So it seems, through the charismatic rapping from front man Fox to the fiery vocals of the 1st Lady comparisons with a future and the luminescence of a clear night sky - albeit knocked back with some good old State-side cornballs - are hard to resist…
