Today the Academy of Country Music announced it will be hosting its 1st Annual
Academy of Country Music Celebrity Motorcycle Ride, a star-studded daylong trek
through the Nevada desert that will benefit the newly established Academy of
Country Music Charitable Foundation, an in-house organization designed to raise
and distribute money to worthy philanthropies nationwide.
As part of the festivities surrounding the 39th
ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, the Academy will host this scenic,
day-long 150-mile trek during which riders will see Lake Mead, Valley of Fire
state park, and, of course, Las Vegas itself. The 1st Annual Academy of Country
Music Celebrity Motorcycle Ride will take place on Monday, May 24th, 2004. [Anyone
interested in signing up for the ride should contact Brandi Brammer at (818)

"The Academy of Country Music Celebrity Motorcycle Ride is a great way
for the Academy to give back to the community during our biggest week of the
year," said Rod Essig, Vice President of the Academy of Country Music.
"We'll be able to do some good and have a good time doing it, too."
Additionally, at a private industry event that evening the Academy of Country
Music will auction off a 2004 Harley-Davidson XL 883 Sportster motorcycle signed
by Keith Urban, Montgomery Gentry, Rascal Flatts, Hank Williams, Jr. and other
country superstars, which was generously donated to the Academy of Country Music
Charitable Foundation by Harley-Davidson of Cool Springs in Franklin, TN.
"The charities supported by the Academy of Country Music are so important
to the people of Nashville," said Ricky Kelley, owner of Harley-Davidson
of Cool Springs. "We donated this motorcycle to recognize the Academy of
Country Music, and also in the name of all the country music artists who have
done so much on behalf of others."
The Academy of Country Music was founded in 1964 with a mission to support,
promote, and enhance the advancement of the country music industry worldwide.
The Academy is best known for presenting its annual ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC
AWARDS, which are televised live on CBS and honor excellence among the industry's
brightest stars. The Academy, which is comprised of 3,000+ professional members
and a newly established Associate Membership, is headquartered in Burbank, CA.
