SSR [School of Sound Recording] would like to extend an extra-special welcome
to our new intake of students for the March courses. Students beginning the
Audio Engineering, DJ Technique and Dance Music Production courses herald the
20TH ANNIVERSARY of courses here at SSR!! As always, we welcome you to SSR,
and wish you an enjoyable and rewarding time here.
As we move into our twentieth year as a leading edge training centre, SSR can
reflect on an illustrious history and an exciting future.
Our twentieth anniversary coincides with the launch of a state-of-the-art learning
centre at our new Ardwick campus, scheduled to open in spring this year. This
development symbolises monumental progress, not only within the School of Sound
Recording, but in terms of music industry education across the UK as a whole.
We are also pleased to announce that we move into 2004 as Europe’s first
Digidesign Authorised Pro-School, as an Official Steinberg Training Centre and
as an Official Roland Training Centre. A close and consistent relationship with
such respected organisations enables us to fulfil our commitment to high quality
training, and ensures that our students benefit from the most up-to-date techniques
and technologies.
It is notable that the forthcoming term sees a renewed focus on the origins
of Manchester’s rise to cultural fame. Our new Band Development Service
offers a range of support services to artists and musicians, combining musical
development with a range of business-oriented modules.
I am particularly excited by this initiative, as it will help the school to
maintain focus on local grass-roots talent while also ensuring that SSR remains
a melting-pot of technology and traditional musicianship.
