Daly City, CA (June 17, 2004) — Digidesign, North American distributor
of Focusrite products, is pleased to announce Focusrite’s The Liquid Channel
as the School of Audio Engineering’s (SAE) choice of professional channel
strip.
The Liquid Channel is a revolutionary channel strip capable of accurately
emulating mic pres and compressors by combining radical new preamp technology
with dynamic convolution techniques. Now in its 28th year, SAE’s position
is at the forefront of cutting-edge audio technology with each facility equipped
with the latest studio gear and a school built specifically for Pro Tools®
training.
Immediately after a personal demo at Focusrite’s European launch party
for The Liquid Channel, Tom Misner, founder and head of the School of Audio
Engineering Institute, ordered twenty units for his international college empire.
With all SAE colleges already in possession of a host of Focusrite Platinum
units and some Red series units, not to mention a wealth of the old Green and
Blue range, SAE is already well-versed in the merits of Focusrite.
Managing Director of SAE Institute Rudi Grieme said of the latest acquisition,
“The Liquid Channel offers an outstanding educational value to SAE students
and provides convincing practical benefits in a studio environment. Due to the
excellent track record of Focusrite’s innovation and robust products in
our schools all over the world, there was no hesitation in ordering a larger
number of these units at the first given opportunity.”
The sheer variety of vintage choices that The Liquid Channel offers —
potentially any mic pre and compressor combination in the world — is something
that has not been an option for students until now. Students will be provided
with substantial technical ear training as they learn to recognize the subtle
nuances and characteristics of a virtually infinite number of front-end and
dynamics processors.
Transporting the antiquated technology of “yester studio” into
the digital age provides the opportunity to solve the inefficiency and time-consuming
aspects of vintage hardware. All front panel controls can be saved, either onboard
or onto hard disk via the USB port. Students can upload their personal settings
from a master server and recall them instantly, as and when required—perfect
for those occasions when studio hours are limited. Remote operation of the unit
using the free software application “LiquidControl,” also makes
recording into a platform such as Pro Tools even easier, with everything available
on-screen.
