Audio-Technica’s shotgun microphones set the benchmark for broadcast sound applications, whether for relaying trackside audio for major international sporting events, camera mounted action filming, news gathering, or intimate reality TV sound recording. The new AT897 Short Shotgun microphone develops still further the range of industry leading shotguns with a compact Line + Gradient condenser microphone just 11 inches long; sufficient to stay well out of frame on wide shot when camera mounted. Also exceptionally light – 145 g – the AT897 is designed to capture high quality field audio in the most demanding situations.

The capsule provides excellent off-axis response while its line + gradient polar pattern ensures exceptional signal rejection from the side and rear. Operation is either on phantom power or internal battery and there is integral low frequency roll-off switch. A foam windscreen and stand adaptor are included and the unit is competitively priced.

The full range of AT shotgun microphones includes line + gradient variants, unidirectional and stereo models.

Also new to the Audio-Technica range is the AT898 “subminiature” cardioid condenser lavalier microphone, being shown at PLASA for the first time. This joins the AT899 “subminiature” omni-directional condenser lavalier in a new Broadcast and Production range of lavalier, handheld, boundary and shotgun models, designed for broadcast and theatre and event production applications. Both these models provide superior sound quality from a microphone just 5 mm in diameter. Available in black or beige skin tone, features include a switchable low frequency roll-off switch, phantom or battery power operation and a range of optional terminations.

Audio-Technica is also exhibiting its highly successful new 5000 and 4000 Artist Elite wireless systems. Featuring true diversity, frequency agile, UHF operation, multiple transmitter and receiver configurations enable a diverse range of applications to be fulfilled. Multiple receivers from either series can be linked. Both series feature AT’s innovative Intelliscan frequency selection. Receiver Ethernet ports enable monitoring of system parameters via Macintosh® or Windows® software. Additional features include dual-band compansion and the ‘intelligent’ digital Tone Lock squelch system.
