An audience of 7.3 million tuned in to watch last week's BRIT Awards, broadcast as live the first time since 1989. Coldplay and Ms Dynamite were the big winners of the night, collecting 2 BRITs each - the full list of winners can be viewed on the official BRITs website at www.brits.co.uk

Though ex-Brit School students Natalie Stewart and Marsha Ambrosius (a.k.a. Floetry) weren't able to follow Coldplay's lead by exchanging any of their three Grammy nominations into wins, Ambrosius can console herself having appeared as backing vocalist and co-writer on Justin Timberlake's album - now top of the UK album chart following last week's BRIT Awards.

Tom Jones gave a masterclass to 30 lucky students at the BRIT School in Croydon last Wednesday (February 19). Visit the BPI website for more information.

BPI and S1E will be working in partnership to bring interns from Canadian record labels to work at UK labels over April-October 2003. Any UK companies interested in taking part should email info@s1e.com or visit the BPI website for more information.

UK supermarkets' share of compilation album sales continues to grow - although overall sales slipped a little in 2002. BPI members can download our compilation market information sheet from the statistics area of the BPI website.
