Mediasite Live captures and streams keynotes by speakers from MIT, Penn State and Princeton at education technology conference.
MADISON, WI — Sonic Foundry® Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), a leading rich media solutions company, today announced it was selected to Webcast the keynote presentations at the Syllabus fall2003 conference, held Dec. 8-10 in Cambridge, Mass. The semi-annual education technology conference serves as an important venue for administrators, IT professionals and faculty in higher education to learn about the latest technologies being used by their colleagues throughout the United States. This year's keynotes are now available on-demand.
Sonic Foundry used its Mediasite Live TM real-time, rich media Web communications system to capture the keynote addresses and a special panel presentation, and make them available via the Web. Mediasite Live is the only fully integrated hardware/software system that gives presenters total flexibility to capture on-the-fly virtually any kind of data output (PowerPoint, Excel, live Web pages, DVD, complex imagery, etc.) from any presentation device (notebook PC, document camera, smart board, etc.) and instantly turn it into a Web-based interactive rich media file for live and on-demand access.
"Over many years, the Syllabus Conferences have showcased cutting-edge technology as it becomes available to the higher education community," said Mark Sande, Syllabus publisher. "Today's partnership with Sonic Foundry allows us to use that technology to extend the content of the conference to those who were not able to join us in Cambridge."
"Mediasite Live is an ideal solution for trade shows and special events because the system is quick and easy to set up and use, and it doesn't interfere with a presenter's style," said James Dias, vice president of marketing and sales, Sonic Foundry. "The Syllabus Conference is a particularly important opportunity for us to demonstrate to professionals at the forefront of the education technology movement the benefits Mediasite Live provides."
