BILLY BOB THORNTON CHOOSES AT4060 TUBE FOR NEW ALBUM
Audio-Technica’s AT4060 cardioid, vacuum tube, condenser microphone was chosen by Bill Bob Thornton to record all of the vocals for his newly released third album, Hobo.
Singer, songwriter and musician, Thornton, recorded the album in his own studio, The Cave. He co-wrote and co-produced it with songwriter and guitarist Randy Mitchell, and co-produced and co-mixed it with GRAMMY® Award winning engineer,
and long-time Audio-Technica user, Jimmy Mitchell (no relation).
When evaluating microphones to record his vocals, Thornton tried a number of different models, before settling on the AT4060. “Billy noticed the difference
immediately he sang the first song into the AT4060,” states Jimmy Mitchell.
“Once he heard his voice, he said, ‘We don’t need to look
any further.’”
Thornton himself comments, “Every track, whether it’s a quiet moody song or more up-tempo rock, has an incredible feel to it, and the Audio-Technica 4060 helped me convey that in every one of my vocals. The 4060 has a real fat,
round sound with the detail and edge I’m looking for.”
