Substantial Jump in Attendees And Exhibitors
NEW YORK: Audio Engineering Society executive director Roger Furness reports that, with 452 Exhibitors and 20,260 Attendees, the 119th Convention, held Oct. 7-10 at NY’s Jacob Javits Center has raised the bar for future conventions on virtually every level.
“Led by Convention chair Jim Anderson and vice chair Zoe Thrall our Committee
developed an outstanding series of Papers, Workshops, Tutorials, Live Sound,
Broadcast Educational, Special and Historical Events, Technical Tours and Platinum
Panels. It is impossible to adequately praise this entirely volunteer team for the long
hours and unlimited energy they devoted to insuring the success of this year’s
event.”
In addition to a keynote speech by Rupert Neve, the Audio Comes Alive-themed
convention offered: An Afternoon With Ray Dolby; 120 individual Papers sessions;
90 Lecture Papers and four Poster Sessions of 30 additional papers; a diverse
program of 14 workshops led by of some of the world’s most respected engineers,
designers, consultants and educators and many other stellar events. The Convention
also launched the AES-Katrina Audio Relief Effort (AES-KAREs), an industry-wide
charity effort on behalf of audio professionals whose lives have been devastated
by the recent hurricane disasters.
