TC Electronic announces that its Konnekt 24D audio interface with built-in DSP ($625 MSRP) is now shipping. The 14-in14-out FireWire interface includes an onboard DSP chip allowing for TC’s world-renowned effects at every stage of recording.
Konnekt 24D features two front panel inputs that combine TC’s new IMPACT™ (Integrated Mic Preamp Circuit Technology) mic preamps for studio use with true Hi-Z guitar inputs. The state-of-the art design allows the unit to be used as a stand-alone mixer and effect processor with the front panel light ring providing easy access, instant control and visual feedback of important mixer parameters. Konnekt 24D features fourteen inputs and outputs: 2 mic/inst/line, 2 line inputs and 4 line outputs, 8 ADAT and 2 S/PDIF (optical and coaxial) inputs and outputs. Cubase LE software is included so users can start recording right out of the box.
Two world-class effects, the Fabrik C channel strip and Fabrik R reverb from the PowerCore Platform are built into Konnekt 24D and can be used while tracking or during mix-down. Flexible routing enables Konnekt 24D to monitor with effects without recording them and route processed and unprocessed signals as simultaneous inputs to a DAW. Fabrik C and Fabrik R offer unique and intuitive user interfaces using MINT™ (Meta Intuitive Navigation Technology) with the flexibility, depth and sound quality that professionals would expect from TC Electronic, but are easy enough for beginners to use.
In addition, Assimilator Konnekt is available for free download for Konnekt 24D owners from www.tcelectronic.com/konnekt24D. Assimilator Konnekt is an extremely powerful equalization tool that “learns” the frequency curve of one piece of audio so it can be applied to another audio file. This native fingerprint equalizer, originally developed for PowerCore, has been customized for Konnekt 24D and is ideal for analyzing and copying EQ curves of individual instruments, voices or reference mixes.
TC NEAR™ (Network Expandable Audio Recording) makes it possible to stack up to four Konnekts together to obtain a massive amount of I/O and DSP effects channels. Not only can multiple devices be connected to the computer, but two musicians each with a networked Konnekt can direct monitor each other in real time.
Konnekt 8 ($375 MSRP), which shares the same basic architecture and feature set as Konnekt 24D but with no built-in effects and less I/O, will be available in Fall 2006.
