Cirque du Soleil show LOVE features original Beatles music mixed on ADAM Monitors in London, Montreal, and Las Vegas
The soundtrack and conceptual basis for the Cirque du Soleil show LOVE is nothing short of amazing, incorporating decades of original music from the Beatles, an elaborate stage production as only Cirque du Soleil can conjure, and production work in three different countries. At every step of the way, ADAM Audio Monitors were used to mix the highly acclaimed music for the stage production and accompanying album.
LOVE celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles through re-mixed and re-mastered versions of their original recordings. It also marks the first collaboration between Sir George Martin, the Beatles legendary producer, and Giles Martin, his son. Using the master tapes of the original Beatles recordings, the Martins created a unique soundtrack that provides a sonic landscape for LOVE, the Cirque du Soleil production and stands on it's own as LOVE, the album.
Most of the work on LOVE was done at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, where many of the original recordings took place. A modern arsenal of studio gear was assembled specifically for the re-mixing and re-mastering process, which included digital audio workstations, modern processors, and the latest powered monitors. ADAM S3A Powered Monitors were used at the request of Giles Martin because "They're the best cross between nearfield and big studio speakers".
Using music that spans years of the Beatles catalog meant that the technology and methods used to record the originals had changed along the way, making it important to hear the truest representation and imaging of the music to seamlessly blend it together for LOVE. ADAM's ART Ribbon Tweeter Technology is highly regarded for its accuracy and imaging. Its smooth high end makes listening for long periods possible with less ear fatigue – a must when the Martins revisited the original Beatles masters for hours on end and mixing a full-scale Cirque du Soleil show.
Because LOVE was conceived as the soundtrack to the Cirque du Soleil show, the technical aspects of remixing and producing the music was as elaborate as the stage production itself. For consistency, the studio environment where the Martins originally created the soundtrack was mirrored in Montreal where work on the stage production took place. Here, Giles spent time mixing the music to accompany the live performance, choreography, and lighting.
Once the music and show were married, the Montreal studio was moved and recreated once again at The Mirage in Las Vegas, were the performance was mixed and rehearsed before being presented to the public. In all three locations, ADAM S3A monitors were used, ensuring the original mixes from London could be accurately conveyed in the high-tech theater production, where many different kinds of speakers were used, from traditional mains to speakers within the auditorium seats themselves.
Whether you're watching the show or listening to the album, LOVE blends artistic expression with modern technology to form a powerful and passionate tribute to some of the most previous music of our time.
