Leading Hollywood Audio Post-Production Studio Extends Long-Term Investment with AMS Neve

BURNLEY, LANCASHIRE, U.K., (June 4, 2007 — AMS Neve Ltd. has announced the installation of significant console upgrades for one of Hollywood’s top post-production studios, Widget Post. The first of the studio’s industry-leading DFC consoles—originally installed seven years ago and employed to mix hundreds of major films—has been upgraded with next-generation Gemini™ audio processing and Encore Plus™ automation. A new console-wide TFT meterbridge has also been added, providing improved visual feedback for a wide range of additional mix information. Taken together, these significant upgrades bring the console up to the very latest specifications, making the DFC a wise long-term investment for Widget Post.

In its short history, Widget Post has become one of Hollywood's most successful audio post-production facilities, with recent credits on films including Hills Have Eyes, American Haunting and the upcoming Spring Break in Bosnia. Central to the mixing of these films has been the AMS Neve DFC console. In the words of Widget Post Director of Operations Matt Dubin, “We’re thrilled to have the upgrade in place. Because the DFC has served us so well, upgrading it was an easy decision. Replacing the DFC with a new console would have cost far more and given us much less.”

Specifically, the recent upgrades to Widget Post's DFC provide cutting-edge features including frame-accurate instant start automation, variable Mix Pass AutoSave™, improved EDL conform and EDL Editor, WavTrack™ scrolling waveform display, and StarCommand™ DAW control.

"The availability of these types of upgrades is a key reason why the world's most successful studios continue to invest in AMS Neve’s large-format consoles,” commented Dave Christenson, president of AMS Neve's U.S. distributor, Audio Agent. "Our products are designed for long-term use in highly demanding environments. They maintain their value long after the initial purchase has been paid off. In that light, the DFC console is surprisingly affordable."

Introduced over ten years ago, the Academy Award™-winning AMS Neve DFC was the first true multi-operator Digital Film Console. To this day, it remains the mixing platform for the majority of each year's top-grossing films.

Studios interested in purchasing a DFC console or upgrading and existing system are encouraged to contact their local representative via www.ams-neve.com.
