This content is brought to you by Audiocourses dot com

Presentation Features Case Studies That Demonstrate How Far Streaming Media Has Come; Explores Web-Based Distance Learning Trends - New Learning Technologies 2004

WHO:

James A. Dias Vice President of Enterprise Media Solutions, Sonic Foundry.

Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOFO) is a provider of rich media communications technology for the enterprise. For more information, visit Sonic Foundry.

WHAT:

Just a few short years ago, streaming media burst onto the scene with promises of revolutionizing distance learning by creating a richer, more interactive, television-quality experience with convenient, desktop accessibility.

Unfortunately, as so often happens with technology, reality didn't live up to the hype, resulting in a good deal of disappointment and skepticism. The cynicism among early adopters of streaming media in distance learning is understandable. After investing time, money and effort in the technology's promises, they discovered the creation and delivery of content was too complex and time-consuming for instructors. Meanwhile, poor quality streams and limited interaction resulted in an unsatisfactory end-user experience.

At New Learning Technologies 2004, sponsored by the Society for Applied Learning Technologies (SALT), Dias welcomes back those who tried streaming media in the past and were dissatisfied with the results. The session examines how streaming media is being used today for on-demand distance learning and training applications in both academic and corporate settings. Case studies highlight a new generation of technologies that have overcome the early complexity issues while meeting the specific instructional modes, student expectations and operating requirements of distributed learning programs.

WHEN:

SALT - New Learning Technologies 2004 (SALT) Session Title: "Giving Streaming Media A Second Chance" Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, 11:15 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Location: Sheridan World Resort Hotel, Orlando, Fla.
