DMi D&M Installation has announced that European broadcast system integrator, BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH, has supplied and installed 25 new Denon DN-C640 professional network audio / CD players at Radio Bremen.
The DN-C640’s unique feature set includes powerful network audio and playback capabilities, configuring it for a comprehensive range of applications in CI, commercial AV, and professional audio environments.
The DN-C640s have been installed throughout television and radio broadcast studios, and in edit suites, at the German regional broadcaster’s HQ. The unique network audio features have brought improved workflow efficiencies, enabling audio to be captured or played out, in various file formats, from both central servers and removable media.
Jürgen Malleck, Project Manager at BFE, oversaw the installation, and explains that the unique feature set of the DN-C640 extends beyond its network audio capabilities: “We were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the DN-C640 for some time; there was really no competing product for this project. As well as the ability to grab audio from either CDs or servers, and the facility to playback all different kinds of data and file formats, including MP3. It also has fader start, which is not so easy to find these days, and balanced XLR and AES/EBU outputs. The 1U rackmount height is also a major benefit. This is a unique combination of very important features for the professional broadcast environment.”
The DN-C640 features an internal WEB based GUI for control of the unit from PCs on a network: includes call up and playback of audio files, configuration of programme playlists, and full transport control. RS-232 control enables integration with third party serial control systems, and a 25 pin GPIO port facilitates full integration within broadcast systems.
The DN-C640 supports and plays back CD-DA, .wav, MPEG Layer II and Layer III, and Windows Media Audio audio formats, on either CD or DVD: the ability to these formats from DATA DVD extends potential maximum playback time using low bit rate MP3 files from a single disk, from 20 hours to almost six days. A full complement of disc types is supported: CD-DA; CD-R/RW; DVD-R/RW; DVD+R/RW.
