Dave Matthews Band Signs New Deal with RCA Records

This content is brought to you by Audiocourses dot com

RCA Records announced today that Dave Matthews Band has signed a new contract extending the band's decade-long association with the label in North America.

The new deal will allow RCA Records and the band to take advantage of the substantial infrastructure DMB have built over the years through an innovative combination of intensive touring and internet marketing which includes features like a forthcoming initiative to distribute live recordings on the internet.

Commented Clive Davis, Chairman & CEO, BMG North America in making the announcement: "Dave Matthews Band is unquestionably one of the greatest contemporary rock bands of all time. They have long been a cornerstone of the RCA Records roster and I'm personally thrilled that the tradition will continue."

Charles Goldstuck, President & COO, BMG North America comments: "We are delighted that Dave Matthews Band will continue to flourish in their alliance with RCA Records. The band has created an extraordinary position for themselves, maintaining a profound level of critical and commercial success, while continuing to inspire a multitude of fans."

"We are so pleased to be able to stay with our family at RCA Records," said DMB. "This deal creates a true partnership between RCA and our band and we couldn't be more confident about the future."

Since their formation in 1991, Dave Matthews Band - Carter Beauford, Stefan Lessard, Dave Matthews, LeRoi Moore and Boyd Tinsley have gone from playing small clubs to arenas throughout the country, becoming one of the top concert draws in the United States year after year. While doing this, Dave Matthews Band have taken a unique path in the record industry by allowing fans to tape and trade their live concerts, thereby encouraging interaction among fans, and by providing a wealth of studio and live material for their audience.

Prior to signing to RCA in 1993, the band released the Platinum-selling Remember Two Things, on their own Bama Rags label. The group built on that success through their highly successful relationship with RCA Records, releasing 18 CDs and DVDs on RCA and selling more than 30 Million albums.

The band concluded last year's summer tour with a live performance in New York City's Central Park for a crowd in excess of 100,000 people. The concert raised $2 Million for public education and the parks. To commemorate this milestone, Bama Rags/RCA Records released The Central Park Concert this past November on both a 3 CD set and a 2 DVD set, which have already been certified Platinum and Quadruple Platinum respectively.

Dave Matthews Band is currently in pre-production for a brand new studio album. A tour is also planned for this summer.
