Sound Engineering Music Technology Courses & Degree Devon UK

This content is brought to you by Audiocourses dot com

Deep Blue Sound Devon UK, the sound engineering and music technology education provider, are proud to announce the opening of dBs2. Also on the Barbican, the new facility adds to an already impressive set-up.

‘Students wishing to study music technology have previously had to look elsewhere in the country for their education. Now the South West of England (devon uk) has a facility that ranks among the best in the country.’ says David Louis Puttick, one of Deep Blue Sound’s directors.

This is a great advert for the South West of England and proves that the creative industries can flourish outside of the capital given a lot of determination and a good bit of investment.

With 11 professionally equipped studios, all fully air-conditioned, 2 highly specified IT suites, containing a total of 38 workstations, and a surround sound lecture and listening suite the facility has been taken to a new level.

Deep Blue Sound offers a BTEC Diploma and a Degree and the company prides itself on accepting students of all ages and from non-academic backgrounds.

‘Some of our best students have very few qualifications – but they are passionate about what they do here, and have real talent. That is what really matters in this industry. For instance, we employed four of our best students from last year as technicians at the facility purely because they worked hard and really applied themselves to the course.’ says director Nigel Burt.

Students are let loose on some seriously impressive state of the art equipment as they go about gaining their qualifications. All musical tastes are catered for; from hip-hop to drum ‘n’ bass, heavy metal to house and even plain old-fashioned classical. Students learn the tips and tricks used to record and produce tracks from all genres.

Nigel and David set up the business in 1997 purely as a commercial studio. Due to its unique position in the commercial sector the students get the opportunity to experience work in the real-world – whether it’s shadowing engineers in the studio or at live gigs. The courses vary in price according to the student’s situation. They are completely free to under 19’s, to very cheap for those in full-time employment.

‘Having developed a first rate educational facility, our next aim is to develop the commercial side. Our goal for the next 6 months is to develop another truly professional commercial facility in which to record bands and do post production work. We hope this will further encourage the scene in Plymouth.’ adds Nigel.

dBs are accepting applications now. See their website for more details.
