AMERICAN MOBILE PACKS SIXTY-FOUR CHANNELS OF TRUE PRECISION 8s

This content is brought to you by Audiocourses dot com

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Chris Shepard keeps expanding the number of TRUE Systems Precision 8 preamps in his remote recording setup since buying his first unit seven years ago.

Shepard, who records many of the largest music festivals in the country, has now added a brand new, 2008 Freightliner recording truck, dubbed 'American Mobile' to his mobile arsenal. This addition brings the total channel count of Precision 8 preamps to 64 - and he has announced plans for a further expansion in 2008.

"I'm set up to record multiple stages at festivals this year," shares Shepard, chief engineer of 'American Mobile' who's also the studio manager
at the legendary Chicago Recording Company studio complex. "There are many bands who can't afford the 'big rig' and need to have a smaller, cheaper solution for their recording needs. I'm putting together another smaller mobile 24-channel system to accommodate them as well. I've got three more TRUE Precision 8s coming in the near future."

Shepard's TRUE Precision 8s have withstood years on the road, he reveals. "Being on the road, they can really get bounced around. The TRUEs never let me down. I've never missed recording a note - ever. I thank [TRUE president/chief engineer] Tim Spencer for his design and support over the years. You can get him on the phone and he'll take care of you. I'll continue adding more TRUEs to my arsenal for their smooth warm sound and reliability."

In addition to the detailed, transparent sonic character of the TRUE Precision 8, Shepard relies on the units for their parallel balanced DB25
and TRS outputs, allowing him to feed redundant recorders, a necessity at any LIVE recording. "The TRUEs split off to Pro Tools|HD, 64-in, and 72 inputs of RADAR just in case the computer decides to take a break. When you're locked to video with word clock and time code, there's always the chance that the clock stops and so does your computer, like when a tractor runs over the cable. You want to be protected and have a backup running."

American Mobile (www.americanmobilestudio.com) has been on the road recording non-stop. "We recorded the artists on the main stage at
Lollapalooza in Chicago again this year. We recorded Rage Against The Machine at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. For the past three years we have recorded the main stage at the Vegoose Music Festival held on Halloween in Las Vegas, as well as the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee the past five years.

The recording truck traveled to Texas twice in October, he recalls. "We recorded a stage at the Austin City Limits Festival for the fourth year
running. We also recorded the Big State Festival down in College Station at the Texas World Speedway. That was a nice mix of a little music.... and a little NASCAR! Now that was fun!"
