Coventry, UK. - A GROUP of media students have had their work showcased on BBC WM's website as part of a project designed to raise the profile of Wood End in Coventry.

The project - called 'Voices' - has been described by senior BBC managers as 'the most ambitious editorial project we have ever attempted."

The students have been busy over the past year working on their audio and video projects as part of their course-work for their HND in Media Production.

Some of the students, like Dean Reilly and Fred McGann, have been filming the local area and have created a series of interviews with people in and around Wood End.

They want to change people's perceptions of the area and give the community a voice.

Over coming weeks, the BBC will be showcasing this work as real media videos the public can view online.

The students on the course are currently working on an audio project, which focuses on interviews with local residents in Wood End.

Some of the students have written a short description of their audio and photographic projects.

Fred McCann: "I am making a documentary on Wood End and also carrying out audio interviews which will incorporate still shots." Dean Reilly said: "I am working on an oral history project, involving multiple interviews with residents of the Weum area.

"I will be incorporating audio with still photographic images."
