The outlandish punk rocker Courtney Love has been arrested yesterday in New York (thursday). Police stated she was arrested for hitting a man on the head with a mircophone stand after throwing it into the audience.
This was the night when Courtney Love, 39, well known for her rock n roll antics had beared her breasts on the CBS Late Show hosted by Letterman.
The assault apparently took place around 2:30am downtown in East Village. The court hearing is scheduled for April 19.
No mention has been made of who she actaully hit with the microphone stand, however he is known to be of 24 years of age.
Before the arrest Love had been behaviing in her usual way on the Letterman show. Letterman had a suprise and exclaimed "Thank you very much. That's very sweet of you," laughing. "They're gonna lose their liquor license", after Courtney Love stood up on his desk with her back to the audience and lifted her blouse to reveal her breasts, she was not wearing a bra.
This is not a particularly new stunt as the show had also seen Actress Drew Barrymore carry out a similar action on Letterman's show for his 48th birthday on April 12, 1995.
"You know, I haven't shown my boobs in so long," said Love, clambering down from his desk. When Letterman probed to ask about her drug possession charges pending against in California, Love turned around and flashed again.
Letterman asked, "Are things going well, or not?" she replied, "Yeh, they're going great! Handcuffed in the bedroom, handcuffed outside, doesn't matter." Later she joked, "I used to be a porno star" and asked Letterman, "Do you think I'm, like, whacky and stuff?"
"Are you whacky?" he asked her back.
"OK, but is that against the law?" she said.
"No, it's not against the law. It's not a good idea, but it's not illegal," Letterman said.
She faces two charges in a separate case stemming from her pre-dawn arrest the same day outside a boyfriend's home, where police said she was breaking windows.
Love was set to play another Manhattan concert on Thursday to promote her solo album America's Sweetheart.
