Risskov, Denmark - August 25th, 2004 - Dynaudio Acoustics has been chosen as the new recommended standard monitors for BBC Radio & Music. The award winning AIR Series was selected together with the BM Series as the preferred monitor choice of the most respected British radio and television company, the BBC. After a comprehensive selection procedure, the AIR 6, AIR 20, and BM5 reference monitors from Dynaudio Acoustics were chosen as the new standard monitors at BBC Radio & Music. HHB Communications Ltd. and Dynaudio Acoustics' worldwide distributor, TC Electronic, have worked closely together during the initial and final stages of the selection procedure.

Martin O'Donnell, Broadcast Sales Manager at HHB Communication Ltd. says: "As BBC Radio & Music moved to replace their existing monitors, we took a close look at the acoustic requirements and technical specifications of the BBC. After thorough inspection of that data it was clear to us that Dynaudio Acoustics was tailor-made to meet the tough requirements".

The selection procedure was extremely comprehensive and was carried out under the EU procurement guidelines, where interest companies were invited to put 3 different monitor sizes on tender. Every single monitor and company was evaluated separately, and 10 different brands were selected for the final evaluation, where several different usability tests were conducted. The speakers had to pass through technical evaluations, extensive blind listening tests, and factory inspections.

Over the last decades, BBC has mainly been using monitors designed internally by the acoustics section of BBC R&D Department. During 2005, much of BBC Radio & Music will move to a new facility as part of the redevelopment of Broadcasting House. New studios and production areas are being built that will utilize the latest digital technology within broadcast including the possibility of multichannel working in some studios in the future. It was important to have a set of monitors with similar tonal characteristics across the different working areas.

VP of Sales at TC Electronic and Dynaudio Acoustics, Peter Bager, says: "The AIR series utilizes the latest digital technology and offers a wide range of possibilities like networking, extensive parameter and bass management control. Today the AIR Series is the preferred choice in many multichannel studios all over the world".

BBC Radio & Music does much of the BBC's pop music production and is responsible for the 10 national radio networks including the 5 new digital services as well as BBC Television classical music. It has production and transmission facilities throughout the UK as well as a number of Outside Broadcast Vehicles.
