The G-Man profiled in MIX magazine!

This content is brought to you by Audiocourses dot com

Scott G (commercial-maker and recording artist The G-Man) is profiled in the September 2004 issue of MIX magazine. G made history by giving away his music on the 'Net, resulting in record and publishing deals and the launch of his own business, G-Man Music & Radical Radio. Under the headline "G-Man Uses P2P to Launch Career," the MIX magazine story illustrates one of the most fundamental changes in today's world of music. The article states:

Rather than go through the major-label network to establish a career, G-Man offered his first album for free via www.gmanmusic.com and sent DJs (including Matt Forger) individual tracks to remix through a P2P file-sharing relationship.

The result? He is now signed to indie label Delvian Records, all of his albums are available on Apple's iTunes, his catalog is administered by Janssongs.com and he has opened his own company, G-Man Music & Radical Radio, in which he creates songs, radio spots and music for film, TV and games.

"The 'give-it-away' approach may be a cool new way of starting a career," G-Man said. "And some people say this method puts me in the vanguard of changes that are overwhelming the music industry - perhaps it's both. I think that the music business as we know it is splintering into a million shards and it is being built up into something new right before our eyes."

Some background:
* Producer and mixer Matt Forger is best known as Michael Jackson's recording engineer. With credits on albums that have sold more than 200,000,000 copies, he is constantly in demand from artists in many genres. He contributed two remixes to this year's "The Platinum Age of the Remix" album by The G-Man.

* Music by The G-Man, now appearing in commercials for Verizon Wireless, Monaco Motor Coaches, Children's Hospital, BAE Systems, and many more, has been called "Moby meets Devo" by TV producer Paul Rich. He is currently in the Top 40 on the Masspool DJ Assn. national dance chart.

* Distributed in 94 countries, MIX is the world's leading magazine for the professional recording and sound production technology industry. Mix covers a wide range of topics including: recording, live sound and production, broadcast production, audio for film and video, music technology, and profiles of producers, engineers and artists.
