Stand 1204, AES Convention – Amsterdam plays host to the international launch of the DFC 2. Following the undisputed success of the academy award-winning DFC, AMS Neve once again redefines film mixing with the introduction of the DFC2: offering enhancements in Automation, Control Surface features, DSP capability and the latest I/O Suite from AMS Neve.
Automation
The DFC2 features Version 3.0 Encore with the latest developments for the worlds most accomplished console automation system. In addition to console automation operation, project workflow will greatly benefit from the NEW EDL automation conforming software, which allows multiple picture changes to be applied to any project swiftly, with the ability to import ‘change lists’.
DFC2 users will also continue to benefit from AMS Neve’s already industry-proven Encore automation, allowing compatibility with thousands of AMS Neve consoles in world class studios.
Control Surface Features
The DFC2 offers further enhancements to the award-winning design, already feted to offer ‘the most user friendly channel strip on a digital console.’ For optimum studio viewing, the DFC2 introduces NEW fibre optic meter backlight technology allowing variable brightness control.
Already proven on Capricorn and Logic MMC consoles, the NEW ‘banks’ feature on the DFC2 allows 6 sets of surface layouts to be recalled at a touch of a button.
The control surface retains all of the features that have contributed to DFC’s popularity with film mixers, including the Touch Sensitive Controls, Machine Control System and Multi-partition mixing which allows the console to be split as per the demands of the project.
DSP Capability<>
Unrivalled EQ (up to 8 bands), Filter and Dynamics ensure the DFC2 continues to offer the legendary AMS Neve sound. However, now with the extra power offered by the 96kHz Signal Processing Engine.
Further NEW additions to the selection of dynamics section, include a unique integrated automated multi-band compressor and ‘look ahead’ compressor as well as enhancements to the panning control.
Users will continue to benefit from the already popular integrated MADI router and the ‘Desk Editor’ software included with Encore, allowing users to manage DSP and build custom configurations. For standard configurations, users will be able to down load them from the AMS Neve website directly.
AMS Neve I/O Suite
AMS Neve’s latest I/O Suite is available for the DFC2. Already in use on digital consoles across the world, the new racks allow users considerably more processing in a compact rack, an advantage for any facility with a shortage of space in their machine room. The new suite includes MIOS and the NEW AES960 rack, allowing sample rate conversion on both input and output AES pairs.
At the AES, AMS Neve is demonstrating the DFC2 courtesy of Soundtrack Studio, one of the first facilities to take delivery of the new DFC. By selecting the DFC2, the Spanish facility acquires all the benefits of the industry-acclaimed DFC along with the very latest technology available.
