SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: TransAudio Group in association with Hyde Street Recording Studios and sponsored by Brauner Microphones and Soundelux Microphones along with Mercury Recording Equipment, hosted three nightly microphone placement seminars during the recent AES convention in San Francisco.
The seminars were hosted by well-known engineer William Whitman for guitar
miking, multiple-Grammy award-winner, Al Schmitt, on vocals, and pro audio guru
Barry Rudolph covered placement of drum microphones. Each night was well attended,
and most of all, attendees got answers to some of their nagging microphone issues.
TransAudio Group founder Brad Lunde says, "Let's face it, after the mic
choice itself, placement is the most critical aspect of capturing sound. However
placement remains one of the least understood crafts of recording engineering.
We believe there is a real need for this application information and real interest
in a hands-on demonstration. In fact, these seminars were so well-received that
TransAudio Group is planning on taking this show on the road in 2005."
