NYC Recording School: SAE New York

Monday, April 28th, 2008

SAE NYC Recording SchoolI had the pleasure of dropping into SAE New York and meeting up with Udo, the School’s Manager, who kindly gave me a tour of the NYC Music Production School, located on the 9th floor of the Herald Center, 1293 Broadway.

The area is unusually circular in design (in a good way) which gives the spaces a sense of fluidity, and the school’s equipment list which fills the spaces is impressive, (big shiny desks and gear everywhere). It was even better seeing students working in very small groups on musical projects, I even saw one studio with a 2 inch 24 track multi-track recorder doing the business, awesome, that old skool tape sound still alive!

SAE NYC Recording School Students Working On a MixAlong with the tour Udo gave good conversation about what they get up to in the vibrant city of New York which I found really interesting to hear, it must be a rush to study in an area with such a buzz around you, both inside and outside.

New York (NYC) is a seriously vibrant place and the phrase “the city never sleeps” is without a doubt true, which I’ve experienced before.

Whilst I’m on the subject of NYC, I’d love to hear what you’ve found in town, including bands, clubs, venues etc, what have you seen?

MediaCampBucks07 Video

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

I had a blast at MediaCampBucks07 which took place a couple of weekends ago, the experience was fantastic and in between all the learning and sharing there was some music production taking place in the thick of it. I wrote a summary over on my personal blog about the educational event.

As well as this Nuno was caught running around with a video camera and he kindly put together a short summary vid to show off his talent. We hope you like the style and you are set to be seeing more of Nuno’s work on the site in the coming months in the way of tutorials.

Bringing It Up To Date

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Well it has been far too long since I have blogged here, or any of you for that matter, so I wanted to post in at least a few small words.

2006 was a year which saw us consolidate, stock take, and generally see where we were positioned in the market, ask questions, and reflect on the years that flew past previously in building the ship of Audiocourses.com.

Personally I was investing a great deal of time in various educational projects, which though related, were not always directly transferred to Audiocourses.com

2007 however is a whole new ball game!

This is going to be a huge year for us, on Jan 8th Audiocourses.com became Audiocourses.com Ltd, a private limited company registered with Companies House London UK. This is truly a milestone for us in many ways not least because we have grown from a postgraduate research project into a fully fledged distance learning solution for students located globally!

This has not been an easy road mind you and we have had to helm this ship carefully through often un-chartered territory and have embraced the exploratory nature of that. Personally, I wish to thank all our members over the years who have and continue to contribute to a truly great company.

As I said, 2007 is a new ball game completely, now we have company status, and we will be rolling out heaps of initiatives to you all month after month and hope you are on for the ride, it’s going to be exciting and motivating and best of all will always be for you, our members and readers who engage with us, weather that be blog reading, forum posting, enrolled student, podcast listener, member of the press or an advertiser, and of course the rest of you too!

So best wishes and here is to 2007!
