m-audio firewire 410 vs. 1814  Reply with quote

What are the major differences in these two products other than price? I'm looking in on buying one of the two, however; I'm not quite sure on which is the best deal for me. My studio consists of: Roland XP80 Keyboard, M-Audio BX8 Studio Monitors, Behringer UB1002 Mixer, Shure KSM27 Condenser, Presonus TubePRE, Presonus HP4. I need a new audio interface that will give me a nice clean sound and enough 1/4" I/O's for all my equipment and then some. Which is the better buy for what i want to do?

One main difference I have noticed is the ADAT Lightpipe feature included with the 1814. This will allow you to eventually add on another interface which also has such connection capabilities. If you ever decide to move to a larger or more expensive interface you will most likely be able to connect this one with that for additional capabilites. Also try checking out the Mbox and Mbox2 interfaces. Though these do not have the ADAT Lightpipe features, they give you the latest version of Pro Tools LE rather than an M Powered Pro Tools. I'm not sure how much different the M Powered version is from regular LE because I have never used the M Powered; however, you can get an MBox for about the same price if not cheaper than the 1814.
