Wavelab, Soundforge won't record Waveplay  Reply with quote

Hi Ben, Chris H, Will, Cruncy and peeps

Hows it? dont oftern ask for help these days but like the Beatles put it " I do appreciate you guy being round".

Right Then!

:When recording into Soundforge/Wavelab from internet based stuff (waveplay) i dont get any levels reading in the record panal?

Currently i have to record into my Mpc, which is cool but not when recording one hour mix tapes.

: the other thing is that i used to be able to have all my audio programs open at the same playing. However at the moment i can only run one pgm at a time which sucks.

Any one who tackles and solves this one gets drunk on me next time i see'um.

peace yall

Hey Chris,

how's it 'hangin'?

In reverse order...
MP3s are probably as small as you'll get your files unless you really have no qualms about the quality. WMA files are sometimes smaller but not by a huge amount.

One thing you can do is when making MP3 files make them mono. A mono 64kbps will be the same quality as a stereo 128kbps but half the size.

In Cubase, do you have the 'Release ASIO driver in background' option ticked? This is under Devices->Device Setup. If this isn't ticked then Cubase will 'hog' the ASIO driver meaning other programs won't be able to use it.

What are the audio apps that you are trying to run simultaneously?

To record 'waveplay' you need to tell the app that you want to record the 'output' of the card rather than the input. I can't remember the Terratec settings but I'm sure there is a page where you can choose the record source.

Hi Ben

Bit to the left as usual

I checked the ‘Release ASIO driver in background’ and found it to be ticked all ready. I’m trying to run Cubase SX, Soundforge or Wavelab. At the moment I can only play audio from one at a time.

If I’m in Cubase and click on the _ (top right hand side) button to assess other parts of my PC the audio just stops. Now even if the audio from Cubase has stopped, and I leave Cubase open and start up Soundforge and open a file I can’t play the file even though Cubase is not playing back any audio.

Soundforge gives me the message ‘ The DMX 6firwe wave playback device does not support one of more of the current format parameters. (sample rate, number of channels, or bits per sample’

The relationship between Cubase and Wavelab isn’t any better, basically if I’m running cubase and open wavelab I can play the file in Wavelab but when I go back to Cubase it won’t play any audio and then freezes and crashes.

The other weird thing I noticed is that if I listening to something with the real one player and I open Wavelab, real one player instantly stops the second I start up wavelab.

Also if I’m using recycle and try to open any other audio program I cant get any audio out of them and Cubase just crashes.

I’m one program at a time at the moment which was OK before but know I’m doing more stuff is starting to suck.

About the other thing, I checked the Terratec panel for the digital out source options. The three options our mix, digital in and wave play. I had it on digital in of which I’ve now changed to wave play how ever I’m still not getting any reading in the record panel on Soundforge and Wavelab just crashes the real one players.

Bit of a mofo problem. I got time off at the moment got any time yourself. I could pop down for a beer or two.

cheers mate
