Where are you based? - very often a google search will help. Also many audio related magazines give away free samples on a monthly basis. _________________ It's all in the ears. - Learn the concepts not the software.

huzai,
You can get a very good sounding acoustic kit for free here: http://naturalstudio.co.uk/ns_kit.html
It is available in multiple formats including a soundfont. In case you didn't updrade the free soundfont player that comes with Fruity, you can get an excellent one for free here: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/769.html
Good luck

I can recommend the natural studio drum kit. I've got my version running on my Linplug RM IV and it sounds cracking for Rock and metal.
Have fun

Hey there P. (Wailing)
I did check out the site Platinum Samples, and it does offer two free sounds if you write a 100 word testimonial. Just doesn't seem free to me. So although, yes, I checked it out. No, I didn't use the samples. My 100 word testimonials are worth more. Yes, I am arrogant and full of over-inflated self-worth. I save my testimonials for deserving sites; like AC forums.
