Hi
I was thinking of overclocking my PC but i've heard that this is not good for audio, is that true?
also will the standard cooling system in a midi tower be good enough to keep the CPU cool while running Games etc.
How much will two 512mb sticks of DDR SDRAM set me back? This is UK btw.
Cheers
P.S can anyone point in the direction of a good program or website to help with overclocking? _________________ If In Doubt...Hit It With a Hammer, If Still In Doubt... Find a Bigger Hammer. |

ok...hum...I wouldn't suggest that. Overclocking gives you more speed, but it will reduces the cpu's reliability. And if you are using Windows, you're gonna need this reliability like I do
If you want to run faster, better buy a better cpu.
As for your ram, well, I think you will be ok, but it always depends on what you are using. I suggest you call the customer service of the softwares you will use and ask them directly _________________ Note: I'm french canadian. So sometimes, I can say things without any sense. The theory of overclocking is this, when manufactures sell processors they dont set them up to complete 100% of what they can do, they have a saftey zone, and set it to 90-95% I believe. So that it doesnt overheat etc. So the theory is, "overclocking" it is actually bringing it up to its 100% working power. However, as I said more chance of it overheating, so do make sure you have good colling systems in place. Also when you overclock it, your lifespan of the processor will diminsh, but it will be faster,. But the real question is, do you really need to overclock it? Most processors go at ample speeed, and its not like a few years back when they were not so fast!

This has good quality RAM on it, and reasonable prices. The cheaper the stuff you get, the more likely it has faults and erros in the addresses and more likely it will give you nice blue screens on a pc. SO my advice when getting RAM dont go buy really cheap stuff, thinking you are getting a bargain. Crucial has excellent RAM for macs and I am pretty certain it has RAM for Pcs aswell. You can get a 1gig ram for an ibook for half of the price of there than off apples site, and its the same RAM! Crucial supply apples RAM! lol (Im pretty certain on all that)
If you wanna check how healthy your RAM is, there is a very small and useful program called memtest, this is only for PC users I believe. You can get it here - http://www.memtest86.com/ |
