Soundblaster Audigy 2 card!! Need help!!  Reply with quote

Any experts in soundcards could you please analyse my problem?! I've recently installed my Audigy 2 card but have had truble getting sound out of it. I seem to be picking up a fuzzy kinda noise when I open my audio files and instead hear a faint resemblance to my music.
My computer came with an onboard soundcard attached to the motherboard and I think there may be another one connected from the front panel of my computer (I can't remove the front panel to see).

My question is, is there a problem/ fault with my soundcard or is it to do with my setup? Or is it because I haven't connected the speakers correctly (I'm using tsunami 5.1 digital speakers). It is fitted into the PCI slot and it appears in the hardware properties that 'the device is working properly'. I have got music coursework to finish ontop of a maths course so I need to be able to get my sound up and running quick! Pplleeeeze HeLP Me!!! thankz

Plug some headphones in the headphone socket on your card, do you get audio there?

It's a case of troubleshooting.

Tried that, didn't work. I did go into the soundcards properties though and it says that my driver is not 'digitally signed'. What does this mean? Could this be the problem if so, how do I deal with it? Your help and response is much appreciated.

OK so we now know it isn't your speakers, how can it be, if there is no sound coming from the headphone socket even right?

Where are you playing the music from a CD? or from the hardrive? Is there a mixer with fader and mute buttons?

I play my music from hardrive. Even the simplest of sounds cannot be heard such as the windows starting music etc. Just some fuzzy noise. I don't have a mixer or any peice of eqipment other than the speakers. The only time I hear sound is when I plug the speakers into the CD-Rom drive which isn't actually connected to my soundcard. Do you suggest I connect the soundcard and cd rom drive?

Troubleshooting.  Reply with quote

Ok, sounds like a configuration error of some type.

This is the manual for the product

Audigy 2 Manual

Go to the troubleshooting section and complete each of the steps in order to eliminate the possible problems.

Then we can move on from there.
