hi,
when a microphone/instrument is connected to a mixer, is the signal that enters the mixer an AC or DC?

An audio signal is an AC signal.

Remember that sound travels in waves. (not straight lines like a DC current)

That is why the waveform on an audio editor is either side of a central line as you have positive and negative values. If you zoom in really far you will be able to see the actual wave in most editors.
