| Favourite Adjectives For Describing Sound |
|
|
Lets have this thread to post up our favourite and perhaps our least favourite terms for describing a sound. - seriously though, it is good practise to describe sounds to others.
Here is one of my least favourites.
"A Fuzzy Sound"
- now what on earth is that?
And I like this one:
"An Oozing Bass Sound"
(possibly meaningless to anyone but me?)

| Kick Ass Loud |
|

What about "Kick Ass Loud" i use that quite alot. But seriously good old fashioned "Warm" is a useful one. _________________ If In Doubt...Hit It With a Hammer, If Still In Doubt... Find a Bigger Hammer. |

| piercing sound |
|
|
"Its a bit of a piercing sound" - as in, some nasty frequancy in there htat just "pierces" the ears!
"Muddy" is always a good one. describing that different insturments in the mix are a bit blurry, and not so clear in the mix. |

| Muddy |

Agreed,
Muddy
is a useful one, to me it implies lack of top-end (HF), and perhaps too much lower-mid (LM).
Top-End
another one then ... _________________ It's all in the ears. - Learn the concepts not the software.

I get that quite a lot here in Wales when people describe my live engineering.

| Going 16K |
|
|
this is sort of a reverse one, but if someone is shouting at you or generally being really annoying, you can say "they are going 16K"
as in 16khz, painful to the ears! _________________ If In Doubt...Hit It With a Hammer, If Still In Doubt... Find a Bigger Hammer. |
