mrbisto (22:04:01): What's new?
hoaxwagon (22:04:24): it's all new
mrbisto (22:04:29): sounds good
mike_lahaie2000 (22:05:25): Ifinally got my package on my unit.I had to load each wav. file one at a time for the first song
mike_lahaie2000 (22:05:42): Cubase would'nt take it
(22:05:54): mixindown has joined the conference.
mixindown (22:06:0Cool: Hi all.
audiomaster08 (22:06:16): just ordered mine...was busy separating from the military...should be here soon
mike_lahaie2000 (22:06:35): I should of said it'll load but would'nt save the finall master
mike_lahaie2000 (22:07:07): All other material works though
audiocoursesc (22:07:43): Good stuff Mike ...
mike_lahaie2000 (22:07:51): I'm still busy with mastering 39 other songs which were due last week
audiocoursesc (22:07:5Cool: Yeah?
mike_lahaie2000 (22:08:39): I had to go back to magix which works well for me
instinct27651982 (22:08:47): damn, am i laggin?
audiocoursesc (22:08:59): Does it mike? what's the main differences?
audiocoursesc (22:09:13): Or what are, rather ..
mike_lahaie2000 (22:09:34): The difference between what magix or cubase?
audiomaster08 (22:09:39): I am currently enrolled in Audio Masterclass, I take exams in June and taking two classes at Berklee Online starting this week.
audiocoursesc (22:10:37): Yeah the main operational difference between cubase and magix, for you I mean.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:10:45): Ok
audiocoursesc (22:12:46): welcome audiomaster, you seem busy as you are also enrolled with audiocourses.com
mike_lahaie2000 (22:13:07): Magix has its own compressor, multi compressor,reverb/delay and all kind of goodies similar to waves but are not plug ins.Cubase works with plug ins and so does magix but for some reason cubase wont save the end product.I've had that problem with cubase since day one
(22:13:15): instinct27651982 has left the conference.
audiomaster08 (22:13:25): just trying to fit in a full schedule before the start of the fall semester
jaminuk (22:13:43): hey mike, ben m here - have you had a look at the mackie sequencer out at the moment - very affordable
audiocoursesc (22:13:49): Mike, sounds odd... I can save my plug-in settings in Cubase.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:14:51): I'm not talking about saving plug ins i'm talking about recording from scratch and it records but won't save
(22:15:20): instinct27651982 has joined the conference.
audiocoursesc (22:16:02): I am Chris (mrbisto) by the way... using this name tonight.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:16:14): It saved all plug ins with both programs any how I'm using my magix which does the trick except I have to add each wave individually
audiomaster08 (22:16:24): ah
mike_lahaie2000 (22:17:03): The first song has awesome quality recording
audiocoursesc (22:17:27): Yes, those raw files are pretty good, we are impressed with them.
audiocoursesc (22:17:53): audiomaster has just ordered his..
mixindown (22:18:00): thi
mike_lahaie2000 (22:18:0Cool: It's going to take me to a new level to record.
audiocoursesc (22:18:19): That's the idea
audiocoursesc (22:19:07): By the way thanks to all who wished me well (I was as sick as a dog last week) - better now.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:19:15): Ben what mackie sequencer
jaminuk (22:19:43): i think its called traktion
jaminuk (22:19:59): getting rave reviews for the price
mike_lahaie2000 (22:20:03): Sorry to hear you were sick please leave that bug over the puddle
mixindown (22:20:04): Yeah, it is, and it's fun (though only used the dems so far).
jaminuk (22:20:15): http://www.mackie.com/products/tracktion2/index.html
mixindown (22:20:15): Sorry, demo.
quinnersboy (22:20:27): yeah i have that demo too pretty sweet
mixindown (22:20:3Cool: Very user friendly.
jaminuk (22:20:43): looks like a cross between pro tools and ableton live from the screenshots
jaminuk (22:20:56): haven't trid it myself but have heard VERY good reports about it
jaminuk (22:21:01): version 2 is out now i think
mixindown (22:21:13): Cool how you can drop the plug in - in.
audiomaster08 (22:21:23): what is the advantage to using the waves plug ins verse in line processors?...I do own plug ins too, but from my experience the outboard stuff usually has been sound
mixindown (22:21:27): Yeah v2 is out, around $200.
audiomaster08 (22:21:39): *better sound
jaminuk (22:21:4Cool: audiomaster - advantage of software is the 'recallability'
jaminuk (22:21:56): and also you only have to buy one plug in
jaminuk (22:22:00): i.e. compressor
jaminuk (22:22:05): and you can run it x number of times
jaminuk (22:22:19): whereas a hardware comp can only be used once per track
mike_lahaie2000 (22:23:15): yes I have 16 channel compressor harware which Idon't use anymore except live
jaminuk (22:23:46): some of the software is very good now - i particularly like waves rcomp
audiomaster08 (22:23:5Cool: not really...I have a mackie 32-4 and by separating the tracks throughout the board I am able to use my compressor multiple times for projects and even again for the final stereo product
jaminuk (22:24:34): yes but thats more time consuming is it not? i guess you're bouncing down each track that you use the outboard for
mike_lahaie2000 (22:25:07): Yes I can do that also but the compressors on screen are easier to use I find
instinct27651982 (22:25:59): hey i just ordered a Avalon VT-737 SP pre amp last friday, should be gettin it soon..what you guys think about it?
audiomaster08 (22:26:22): I don't know...I guess its just personal opinion..but the plug-in's just don't seem to have that sonic edge compared to the outboard stuff
mike_lahaie2000 (22:26:35): Has anyone else started mixing with waves?
audiocoursesc (22:27:09): instinct has... good job too
instinct27651982 (22:27:25): i have, you takin the productiom mixing mastering course mike?
mike_lahaie2000 (22:27:36): I really haven't time to really try them out.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:28:14): Yes I am when I have time.I already took the engineering course
instinct27651982 (22:29:2Cool: cool.. hey ben.. is there any other difference between host and TDM plugins such as the Waves ones other than TDM's use the protools cards instead of cpu? any difference in quality?
mike_lahaie2000 (22:29:31): How many of us are on this course?
jaminuk (22:29:49): quality wise there should be no difference as you are only working with binary
jaminuk (22:29:52): however....
audiocoursesc (22:30:02): mike a few, not all here though. instinct and audiomaster08 are
jaminuk (22:30:05): you may find that some plugins such as those available for powercore, uad-1 etc
jaminuk (22:30:13): are generally of a very high quality
mrlydmann (22:30:23): No, I haven't started mixing with Waves, because the files need Cubase 3, and I have the version 2. Shit, have to bleed som money again.
instinct27651982 (22:30:33): i got the UAD card..really dope plugs
jaminuk (22:30:37): this is probably due to the fact that as this platforms are uncrackable (you cant use plug-in without dsp)
jaminuk (22:30:46): more £s can be spent on development
jaminuk (22:30:54): yes powercore and uad are very good indeed
audiomaster08 (22:32:01): audiocourse...granted I don't have the materials yet, but is this course going to be mandatory to use the plug-ins for projects or can I use the studio that I have already set up? Plug in's basically are pc replications for the outboard stuff...just want to know for sure though.
audiocoursesc (22:32:04): instinct uses the word "dope" to mean great
jaminuk (22:32:15): i'd like to see upgradeable dsp cards personally - you could buy new cpus as time goes on to plug on the dsp card
audiocoursesc (22:32:33): audiomaster, you can use whatever you like.
jaminuk (22:32:36): athlons etc are so cheap now imagine being able to plug a 2GHz+ chip into a DSP card and have that extra power!
audiomaster08 (22:32:55): cool, thanks
mike_lahaie2000 (22:33:06): you should still be able to use waves if you can import your files one at atime .my program was'nt one of the mentioned ones that you needed but they still work if you save in the directory specified in the book
audiocoursesc (22:33:31): power power
jaminuk (22:33:47): ...need....more......power.........
jaminuk (22:33:51):
instinct27651982 (22:33:53): yeah ben, i wouldnt mind seein that either..i can easily max my UAD out now
audiocoursesc (22:33:54): a PC with a kick start attached.
jaminuk (22:34:29): instinct - i think it may happen soon as cpus get much quicker every few years and dsp cards are not upgradeable
jaminuk (22:34:53): a pci card with a cpu slot - that would be nice!
audiocoursesc (22:35:19): yeah interesting how that's not developed quicker really.
jaminuk (22:35:43): i'm very suprised that it hasn't happened but i guess there needs to be dialogue between hardware and software developers
jaminuk (22:36:00): i think someone could make a killing doing that
audiocoursesc (22:36:22): I'm guessing as the costs are so tight for a PCI card, the manufacturers wouldn't want the card upgradable easily.
audiocoursesc (22:36:40): They'd want you to buy the new card ..
jaminuk (22:36:49): no and also i think that software is 'tied' to a particular brand and model of chip - motorola, texas instruments whatever
mike_lahaie2000 (22:37:34): Motu has a deal once in awhile like other manufactures on upgrades it makes it less expensive to upgrade
jaminuk (22:38:09): have you guys seen this 'group buys' that are taking off at the moment - you can pick up software for about 50% in some cases
audiocoursesc (22:38:25): everyone is on that game, yes
mike_lahaie2000 (22:38:31): My magix gets upgraded every year
audiocoursesc (22:39:06): Mike, do you find zero limiting factors with Magix... ? I've not tried it..
mike_lahaie2000 (22:39:15): Be careful with that some come from China and are copie like no name brand
audiocoursesc (22:39:23): Is it a "pleasant" sounding algorithm?
instinct27651982 (22:39:36): what Magix u guys talkin bout?
audiocoursesc (22:39:50): I mean to say, Cubase has "a sound" - which I like..
mike_lahaie2000 (22:39:51): Yes I have ozero limiting ithas a limiter biult in
mike_lahaie2000 (22:40:31): Magis music studio 2005 deluxe or samplitude V8
jaminuk (22:40:36): the sounds of different apps digital summing busses is a hot topic at the moment in the audio world
audiocoursesc (22:41:44): Some of the "low-end" products simply sound bad to me..
audiocoursesc (22:41:5Cool: What sort of price is Magix Mike?
mike_lahaie2000 (22:42:05): Yes I hear alot of talk about it something to do with less abuse on the processor
mike_lahaie2000 (22:43:02): Magix 2005 deluxe I picked up for $135.00 can and Samplitude is $1000.00
audiocoursesc (22:43:43): So you fire your samples from the MIDI in Magix.... using it as your main sequencer. ?
mike_lahaie2000 (22:43:52): @005 can only record 16 mono tracks at once and samplitude I lost count at40 tracks
audiocoursesc (22:44:15): That's a whole lot less money than many other popular sequencers.
mixindown (22:44:15): http://site.magix.net/index.php?405
audiocoursesc (22:44:39): Is that not limiting Mike, just 16?
mike_lahaie2000 (22:44:52): To answer that yes I use midi to trigger my keyboards and other samplers
audiocoursesc (22:46:17): I'd find 16 very limiting..
audiocoursesc (22:46:31): How's the C&G boys ngirls, all very quiet...?
chemirastudio (22:46:42): hello, voyeur
audiocoursesc (22:46:46): lol
chemirastudio (22:46:49): looking in
audiocoursesc (22:46:49): seen anything good?
mixindown (22:46:54): Hey, cant get a word in.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:46:55): magix 2005 got some pretty good ratings in the past few years and thy are hard to get.Yes limiting but you can bounce and it plat up to 99 trks
hoaxwagon (22:46:56): doin' ok chris
audiocoursesc (22:47:32): oh ok so playback is expanded, ok, thanks Mike.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:48:0Cool: Yes you can use as many trks as you want but only record 16 at once
audiocoursesc (22:48:11): How's the study and questions, I've not had a chance to look yet. I#ll be moderating them tomorrow, along with last weeks.
quinnersboy (22:48:36): aye what does moderating mean
audiocoursesc (22:48:44): Ben, wanna.. ?
mike_lahaie2000 (22:48:45): you mean there's been studying?
audiocoursesc (22:49:06): C&G is always study mike, you know that.
mike_lahaie2000 (22:49:12): I'll get there soon
mike_lahaie2000 (22:49:37): Here we go again!
jaminuk (22:49:5Cool: right...
audiocoursesc (22:50:07): quinners, we covered moderating in the first workshops, you can read up them in the reception forum.. a good idea..
jaminuk (22:50:11): we kind of covered this in week 1s workshop
audiocoursesc (22:50:16): but ben can recap a little.
jaminuk (22:50:22): but to recap
jaminuk (22:50:23):
mike_lahaie2000 (22:50:44): I'll read for awhile
jaminuk (22:50:55): myself and chris will read the answers given in the forums on a weekly basis
jaminuk (22:51:17): any glaring errors will be picked up on and you will be 'steered' in the right direction
mike_lahaie2000 (22:51:45): ok
jaminuk (22:51:45): although in the synthesis questions this week I did actually give a model answer to one question that everyone struggled on
jaminuk (22:52:01): as i mentioned previously
quinnersboy (22:52:0Cool: ok so
jaminuk (22:52:16): we cant go through every single correct answer and appraise every answer
jaminuk (22:52:41): the people who mark the exam look for a certain 'kind' of answer
jaminuk (22:52:55): although often there are no specific 'right' answers (ceratinly in RT)
jaminuk (22:53:0Cool: MT is more black and white
(22:53:13): g_everill has joined the conference.
jaminuk (22:53:41): what is important
jaminuk (22:54:02): is that you answer the questions 'correctly'
jaminuk (22:54:0Cool: this was covered in an early workshop
jaminuk (22:54:26): by correctly i mean in terms of structure
jaminuk (22:54:2Cool: etc
jaminuk (22:55:21): is this clear quinnersboy?
quinnersboy (22:55:2Cool: aye 100
audiocoursesc (22:55:32): Thanks (again) ben ..
jaminuk (22:55:41): good stuff- check out old workshop transcripts
jaminuk (22:55:46): for more info
audiocoursesc (22:56:46): The first impressions are good for questions guys..
quinnersboy (22:56:50): well sorry i bored everyone but sure if ya don't ask questions you never get anywhere
jaminuk (22:56:5Cool: quinners - no problems
audiocoursesc (22:57:07): Seems you are stayin on top of it all people..
jaminuk (22:57:12): yes answers are of a VERY high standard so far
mike_lahaie2000 (22:57:37): I guess I have some catching up to do
audiomaster08 (22:57:41): am I already behind in the class? Was I supposed to have my materials by a certain day?
audiocoursesc (22:57:4Cool: mike YOU don't have any
audiocoursesc (22:57:59): we are referring to C&G couse
audiocoursesc (22:58:06): no audiomaster
mike_lahaie2000 (22:58:09): great
audiomaster08 (22:58:26): ok
audiocoursesc (22:58:42): What's the topic this week for RT guys?
audiocoursesc (22:59:00): RT=recording techniques for C&G guys
mike_lahaie2000 (22:59:42): This is bringing back memories
reynola31 (22:59:46): equipment 2?
audiocoursesc (22:59:57): ah equipment 2 is it.. thanks Rach..
chemirastudio (23:00:04): ZZZZZ what
reynola31 (23:00:0Cool: lol
chemirastudio (23:00:22): My schedules lost
audiocoursesc (23:00:39): http://www.audiocourses.com/sections-viewarticle-8.html
audiocoursesc (23:00:47): I'm just seeing who is a good student..
chemirastudio (23:01:03): Apple to follow
audiocoursesc (23:01:11): lol rach beat you to it!
chemirastudio (23:01:17): reynolo31
chemirastudio (23:01:23): apple
reynola31 (23:01:24): lol i guess i did chem
reynola31 (23:01:46): no apple today chris maybe next week
audiocoursesc (23:01:52): hehe
reynola31 (23:02:00): lol
audiocoursesc (23:02:04): equipment 2 along with what for MT?
chemirastudio (23:02:22): no idea
hoaxwagon (23:02:32): synthesiser 2
reynola31 (23:02:33): synthesisizers 2
audiocoursesc (23:02:35): (sees the server strain on the load of al viewing the page)
audiocoursesc (23:02:36): lol
audiocoursesc (23:02:41): hehe good stuff
jaminuk (23:02:46): ha
chemirastudio (23:02:49): of course
chemirastudio (23:03:05): thinthis eyzers
audiocoursesc (23:03:07): I think they need a practical again this weke ben...
audiocoursesc (23:03:10): what ya think?
jaminuk (23:03:21): you all have VST compatible hosts?
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:03:39): just about
chemirastudio (23:03:45): SONAR 3
hoaxwagon (23:03:57): cubase vst
quinnersboy (23:04:23): is that recording software
jaminuk (23:04:2Cool: good stuff - yeah we could have a look at some synthesis with VST instruments
jaminuk (23:04:43): quinners - yes, anything like cubase logic sonar magix traktion etc should do
audiocoursesc (23:05:13): sounds like fun that ben!
mike_lahaie2000 (23:05:34): question?Is sonar made by cakewalk
jaminuk (23:05:3Cool: maybe we could have a got at replicating some 'instruments' with subtractive synthesis - sound like fun?
jaminuk (23:05:43): sonar is by cakewalk
mike_lahaie2000 (23:05:4Cool: ok
chemirastudio (23:05:51): yep Sonar = cakewalk
mike_lahaie2000 (23:06:02): I have it too
audiocoursesc (23:06:30): I dig subtractive synthesis personally.
audiocoursesc (23:06:37): good fun...
hoaxwagon (23:06:45): I'm scared Ben
audiocoursesc (23:06:51): be araid
jaminuk (23:06:52): you know where you are with subtractive synthesis!
jaminuk (23:06:55): ha
jaminuk (23:07:05): hoax - its really not as bad as it souunds
hoaxwagon (23:07:05): lol
hoaxwagon (23:07:14): ok
chemirastudio (23:07:17): worse?
audiocoursesc (23:07:21): and it's very logical
jaminuk (23:07:25): in fact its much simpler than much additive synthesis etc
jaminuk (23:07:36): ok can i take over here for a minute
audiocoursesc (23:07:46): go
jaminuk (23:07:51): you've all done your synthesis 1 questions
jaminuk (23:08:03): so you should be familiar with ADSR envelopes
jaminuk (23:08:19): so lets say for arguments sake i asked you to create a kick drum sound
jaminuk (23:08:33): what kind of ADSR would you expect?
mixindown (23:09:13): quick release?
mixindown (23:09:22): sorry,more to come
jaminuk (23:09:2Cool: yes very quick
g_everill (23:09:3Cool: short attack?
jaminuk (23:09:3Cool: what about attack?
mixindown (23:09:42): Quick attack, little sustain,
mixindown (23:09:49): quick decay
jaminuk (23:09:52): good
mixindown (23:09:55): quick release?
mixindown (23:09:57): all quick?
jaminuk (23:10:03): yes all quick
jaminuk (23:10:04): !
jaminuk (23:10:10): attack is instant
jaminuk (23:10:1Cool: think of the beater hitting the skin
jaminuk (23:10:29): the initial 'thud' is the loudest
jaminuk (23:10:3Cool: so no 'fade in' - attack is instant
jaminuk (23:11:10): sustain - doesn't really exist with a kick (at least natural sounding)
jaminuk (23:11:2Cool: attack and release are the keys here
g_everill (23:11:52): does that go for compressing it too
jaminuk (23:12:04): any ideas what kind of waveform you should use from an VCO for a kick drum?
jaminuk (23:12:20): compression is different - it depends on the sound you want
jaminuk (23:12:32): you may want an attack of several ms
jaminuk (23:12:39): to allow the initial transient through uncompressed
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:12:47): triangle waveform?
jaminuk (23:13:06): triangle, yes could work
jaminuk (23:13:15): how about if we wanted a deep sub kick sound?
chemirastudio (23:13:23): LFO
jaminuk (23:13:40): think more of waveforms chemira
chemirastudio (23:13:45): sine
jaminuk (23:13:4Cool: good
jaminuk (23:14:03): if we have a synth with 2 oscillators
jaminuk (23:14:12): we could have a deep (sub) waveform
jaminuk (23:14:25): doubled with a higher pitch waveform for the 'click' of the beater
chemirastudio (23:14:54): 60Hz and a 2K
jaminuk (23:15:07): yes they're good starting points
jaminuk (23:15:15): click can be anywhere upto 5kHz typically
jaminuk (23:15:32): for more radio friendly material the 'thud' is around 80120Hz
jaminuk (23:15:36): 80-120
jaminuk (23:15:4Cool: for club material it can go down to 20-40Hz
jaminuk (23:16:22): tricky one
jaminuk (23:16:25): how about a snare
jaminuk (23:16:49): in terms of sound not ADSR
g_everill (23:17:2Cool: couldnt u set the adsr differently for each osc
jaminuk (23:17:56): depends on the synth - many basic subtractive have the ADSR in the VCA which means all oscs are sifering the same fate
jaminuk (23:18:03): suffering
g_everill (23:18:36): so for 2envelpoes
g_everill (23:18:41): then only
jaminuk (23:18:59): well in terms of the actual sound source, you guys heard of 'noise' (white, pink etc)
mixindown (23:19:15): yes
chemirastudio (23:19:16): yep
reynola31 (23:19:31): yep'
g_everill (23:19:32): yes
jaminuk (23:19:43): many subtractive synths allow you to add 'noise' as well as waveforms
jaminuk (23:20:02): a snare drum has energy across many freqs
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:20:11): sound source for a snare? white noise
jaminuk (23:20:1Cool: very good awd
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:20:51): all frequecies are present in white noise
jaminuk (23:20:55): do you guys know what white noise is?
jaminuk (23:20:59): thanks awd!!
jaminuk (23:21:19): all freqs are present in white noise, but pink noise also
jaminuk (23:21:33): what is different between white and pink noise?
mixindown (23:21:50): is it a sound with its frequency spectrum over wide range?
jaminuk (23:23:03): more to do with 'energy'
jaminuk (23:23:2Cool: or 'volume'
jaminuk (23:24:03): anyone?
mixindown (23:24:21): white noise,...
hoaxwagon (23:24:24): white has more high frequency energy than pink
audiocoursesc (23:24:26): I think they are stumped on that one ben
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:24:2Cool: pink noise has less high frequency energy
g_everill (23:24:31): i dont know
jaminuk (23:24:39): ok you're kind of close
mixindown (23:24:46): the energy is between 10,000Khz and 20,000kHz
jaminuk (23:24:54): white noise appears to have more HF content
mixindown (23:25:00): sorry Hz
jaminuk (23:25:15): white noise has 'equal power' throughout the spectrum
jaminuk (23:25:3Cool: however we don't hear it like that for 2 reasons
jaminuk (23:25:51): 1) the ear is more sensitive at MF and HF than LF
jaminuk (23:26:21): 2) an octave in musical terms is 2xfreq
jaminuk (23:26:59): therefore in white noise each octave will be 2 the power as there are 2xas many freqs in the octave
jaminuk (23:27:10): i.e. octave 1 = 20Hz-40Hz
jaminuk (23:27:21): octave 2 = 40Hz-80Hz
jaminuk (23:27:24): and so on
jaminuk (23:27:35): pink noise is 'weighted' to prevent this
jaminuk (23:28:05): so pink noise is 'halved' per octave
jaminuk (23:28:13): white noise is very 'hissy'
jaminuk (23:28:19): pink noise is more 'boomy'
jaminuk (23:28:36): so for a snare drum white noise with its HF content is a good starting place
jaminuk (23:28:52): you'll get a chance to experiment for yourselves this week
jaminuk (23:29:04): so i'll not give you any further clues
jaminuk (23:29:07): !!!
audiocoursesc (23:29:15): Get your anoraks on lol
jaminuk (23:29:20): lol
chemirastudio (23:29:33):
g_everill (23:29:3Cool: i'm still trying to work thru the basic audio course so i will have to wait
jaminuk (23:29:40):
hoaxwagon (23:29:42):
mixindown (23:29:43): lol
jaminuk (23:29:57): honestly its very simple
jaminuk (23:30:04): written down it looks harder than it really is
audiocoursesc (23:30:23): yes but ben it's only me and you that have conversations like that in the pub...
jaminuk (23:30:29): lol
jaminuk (23:30:31): ssshhhh
audiocoursesc (23:30:32): these guys talk about girls and boys
jaminuk (23:30:49): not for long......
chemirastudio (23:30:53): wha
audiocoursesc (23:30:55): exactly ..
audiocoursesc (23:31:25): you are all doomed to being boring very soon.. (seriously it's good fun really)
g_everill (23:31:27): the weather can be quite anteresting topic
hoaxwagon (23:31:2Cool: mmmm the pub
g_everill (23:31:51): lol
jaminuk (23:31:55): weather is very interesting!
reynola31 (23:32:00): it sure is
mixindown (23:32:01): wine in the house for me.
mixindown (23:32:11): and a curry.
audiocoursesc (23:32:26): you are always eating curry mixindown, what's with that? lol
mixindown (23:32:33): lol
hoaxwagon (23:32:40): lol
mixindown (23:32:41): I LUV CURRY!!!!!!!!
jaminuk (23:32:42): live next door to a takeaway?
g_everill (23:32:44): mmm got any naan bread?
mixindown (23:32:47): WISH I DID
mixindown (23:32:55): NO, CHIPATTIS
jaminuk (23:32:59): manchurian vegetable and mushroom fried rice for me!
mixindown (23:33:26): Na, tindaloo.
audiocoursesc (23:34:02): I enjoy Chicken Sashlick (yeah I dig the name)
quinnersboy (23:34:03): half curry half sweet in sour sauce half chips half rice
g_everill (23:34:05): so its red ring tomorrow then
quinnersboy (23:34:07): just devine
mixindown (23:34:14): lol
audiocoursesc (23:34:24): oh dear g_everill
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:34:40): haha red ring
g_everill (23:34:51): sorry excuse me
jaminuk (23:34:53): lol
jaminuk (23:35:09): can tell you're from the british isles
jaminuk (23:35:17): i presume!
mixindown (23:35:30): who?
jaminuk (23:35:35): g_everill
mike_lahaie2000 (23:35:40): Update on Waves!!!
g_everill (23:35:57): maybe
jaminuk (23:36:16): maybe?
audiocoursesc (23:36:17): Yep the humour gives it away ..
jaminuk (23:36:34): absolutely
mike_lahaie2000 (23:36:42): I just found a new trick if your platform won't accept the wav.files on dvd
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:37:01): yes british humour is a little 'toilet' based
g_everill (23:37:34): not all the time but ot does crop up s'times
g_everill (23:37:4Cool: upbringing i spose
mixindown (23:37:53): lol
mike_lahaie2000 (23:38:35): You start a new project and download all wave files for that song into yopur new song folder and create explorer window and drag and drop to whatever track you want and it works i just finished loading 48 trs and they all work
audiocoursesc (23:38:50): Mike, you said you can import wave files ok now, that's neat.
mike_lahaie2000 (23:39:23): Yes I can import and drag and drop to any track I want
jaminuk (23:39:2Cool: good work mike!
mike_lahaie2000 (23:39:49): This can be done with cubase also
audiocoursesc (23:39:50): Y alearnt something new, always a good one that!
mike_lahaie2000 (23:40:02): and cakewalk
audiocoursesc (23:40:05): So who's mixed or written anything this week?
mike_lahaie2000 (23:40:19): I have
mike_lahaie2000 (23:40:25): 2 of them
mixindown (23:40:29): Is that a joke?
audiocoursesc (23:40:33): what ? two mixes?
audiocoursesc (23:40:40): nice...
mixindown (23:40:43): where do you get time to study and do mixing?
mixindown (23:40:47): lol
hoaxwagon (23:40:50): nothin here
g_everill (23:40:50): i'm just trying to understand the synth i just got
jaminuk (23:40:55):
audiocoursesc (23:41:06): hoax shame on you
mike_lahaie2000 (23:41:07): I have done 39 mixes in the last 2 weeks all individual artists
acousticalweaponsdivision (23:41:14): always fiddling with some tune most of the time
hoaxwagon (23:41:15): lol
audiocoursesc (23:41:19): that's like the old Mowtown days Mike!
jaminuk (23:41:31): _everill - what synth you got
mike_lahaie2000 (23:41:42): Yes how nice to own and live in your studio
mike_lahaie2000 (23:42:1Cool: By the way the new studio will be ready at the end of April
g_everill (23:42:24): i just got a yamaha motif es6
audiocoursesc (23:42:27): You don't actually live IN it do you?...
jaminuk (23:42:46): i work with a keys player whos got the motif es 88(?) great synth/keyboard
jaminuk (23:42:56): takes up loads of room on the stage though
mike_lahaie2000 (23:42:57): It's an addition to my house built in 2000
g_everill (23:43:01): got a novation a while ago which is pretty good
g_everill (23:43:15): must be massive
jaminuk (23:43:15): novations are nice sounding synths usually
jaminuk (23:43:26): its very big and is a 2 man lift
jaminuk (23:43:40): very very nice though
mike_lahaie2000 (23:43:41): The old studio was only 900 sq ft the new one is 2500 sq ft
g_everill (23:43:43): those 88s have got wieghted keys i think
jaminuk (23:43:56): yes they do - they're very nice to play
audiocoursesc (23:43:59): oh the 2 man lift gigs... man those sucks.. everyone ducks out of that.
mrlydmann (23:44:06): Mike, what about pictures of your new studio?
jaminuk (23:44:07): he's put more memory in it so it is a sampler too
g_everill (23:44:09): cliunk clunk
jaminuk (23:44:12): awesome kit
g_everill (23:45:05): yes i was thinkning about whether to use the sampler on the keyboard or a software one
mike_lahaie2000 (23:45:16): I'll still be able to hang around with moose and my friends the beavers
jaminuk (23:45:21): for live the motif is good
audiocoursesc (23:45:24): lol
g_everill (23:45:2Cool: dont know much about either yet
jaminuk (23:45:31): for studio i personally prefer soft samplers
audiocoursesc (23:45:57): you can see Mike here http://www.audiocourses.com/sections-viewarticle-35.html
