Latency  Reply with quote

Hi,
You can fix the problem by reducing the 'latency'. This can be done by reducing the buffer size. You will find this under the audio options of smaplitude. Search 'latency' in your help file, it should give a detailed explanation.
Hope this helps..

I reduced the VIP buffer after this in sound card control panel in samplitude and delay during the recording was slower, but my CPU overloaded very much.

Not enough power  Reply with quote

Hi,
Umm it looks like your computer doesn't have enough power then to monitor your recordings.
Whats your hardware configuration?

Ram is a little low since this is where you will store the files to be played back and the operating system. HOw large is the playback project? It's stored in ram to some degree. XP can eat ram too, I can't remember it's toll on Ram but it could be the culprit. If you have optimized for XP with regards to all the tweeks, check for background operations they eat resources and if you can put a CPU, RAM usage utility in the sys tray, yes it uses resources but it will tell you whats going where. I'll get back to this post for the Tweeks resources.
Another thing is how many tracks and how many effects are you using?
Does samplitude have delay compensation? If you have a non delay compensated effect on the output buss ist will introduce latency(delay).
Is hard drive selcted for DMA? I think that's the term, again I'll check.
Is the drive partitioned and seperate?
Are your IRQ's optimized for best results?

Check out the M-Audio User groups loads of info and you can drop the question there too. If you get an answer there, please post it here, this is a great shared community that the more you give the more we all get.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hey man, thanks a lot!
I`ll check all these things when I have more free time.
Well, doesn`t matter of track number, there is a delay. I`ve checked all backgorund processes and I think that there isn`t something that can loads up my processor and RAM. My opinion is that there is something from Windows XP, but I don`t know what Laughing
I didn`t meddle with IRQs and this DMA Rolling Eyes
Thanks again.
