Week 7 - Sound Effect Story (practical)  Reply with quote

Sound Effect Story

Practical Project

Invent a short story that can be told using sound effects only, using sound effects from any other effects library. Assemble a sound effects sequence using one effect at a time, editing the sequence tightly together with few, or no gaps. The sound effects should be the sounds that happen in the story, not sounds that give an 'impression' of the story. The duration of the story should be between 90 seconds and three minutes.

Notes

Assemble the effects on separate tracks.

Take care over the relative levels of the effects. An explosion, for instance, would be close to peak level; woodland atmosphere would be much quieter.

Credit will be given for fast action in the story rather than slow moving backgrounds.

Assessment Criteria

The story starts immediately with no pause after pressing the play button. The recording finishes within 10 s at the end of the story. There is a smooth fade out of background noise at the end.

There are no technical faults: excess noise, clipping, distortion etc.

The sound is crisp, clean and clear.

Artistically, the standard of the story is high with good assessment of relative levels.

I posted a 90 second reel of loops and effects. Not what I had planned but this is where it all led too. Several loops are looped backwards and forwards or segments are internally looped. The music.....Don't ask. I made the low synth sound, drum samples are just freebie stuff along with the rest of the track.

Cheers

Nice Chem, Alot of action there. For the MT practical I only hope I can get a drum sound from a synthesiser. See ya in the work shop.
