| Has anyone used a BOKSE SM-1 SMPTE to MIDI Computer before?? |
|
|
Hi there, I'm looking for info on how to operate a Bokse SM-1 (SMPTE to MIDI Computer) or even a manual...
I can generate code and adjust frame rates etc..., I can hear code out the SMPTE output, I can get it to read SMPTE but there is a slight lag and I'm not sure on the procedure for adjusting the offset.
I
can't
get it to communicate with the computer through midi, I'm not very up to speed on MTC so this is a bit of a grey area for me.
I run Nuendo 2 on the PC but I just bought an old Tascam MSR-16 and want to be able to sync it to the computer.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Cheers... |

Not me, I don't even know the box.
Though typically you will need to record SMPTE into a tape track then have the box convert the SMPTE code into MTC, for nuendo to understand.
Does the box output MTC? _________________ It's all in the ears. - Learn the concepts not the software.

well thats part of the problem, I think it does!!, I would presume it does because it says SMPTE to MIDI Computer on the front,
it has a MIDI in and thru on one side
then 6 MIDI outs
and a SMPTE in and out on the back
I'm presuming it can convert both ways, but I have no manual or info at all about it...
Anyone know of any traps for younger players regarding setting up MTC in Nuendo? If this box is putting out MTC nuendo isn't reading it or any MIDI information for that matter |

Not sure about Nuendo, but I think you'd have to go into the Synchonisation area and tick a synch box and slave it.
MTC will transmit the song position in bars/beats and therefore it will contain some form of clock information. But the start and stop info comes from MMC (midi machine control).
See what the options are in the synchronisation area. _________________ It's all in the ears. - Learn the concepts not the software.

Oh right MMC no worriesI'll give that a try...
I thought is was midi clock that transmitted bars + beats and that MTC transmitted absolute time that was translatable into SMPTE, but I could be wrong... |
