| Keyboard Midi Controller.......so many choices... |
|
|
I have been lookin around for a midi keyboard controller that I will be using with Reason 3.0. Only needs to be 25-30 keys, I am in no way a skilled keyboard player. I just need somethin to bang out bass lines, melodies and beats. Definately has to be velocity sensitive and it would nice to have plenty of assignable knobs and faders. I have read a lot of forums and this seems to be a repeat forum topic but all I have gotten is mixed answers. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction for what I am using it for. I never owned a good keyboard so my frame of reference for quality key response is non existent. I got about $200 to spend so that does limit my selection, let me know what you think or what you use for similar situations.
Thanks,

I picked up a M-Audio Radium49 controller. It was only $150. Has 8 knobs and 8 sliders...velocity sensitive...a great controller for reason. |

I use an Edirol PCR-50, it has the same specs as the radium-49, but supposedly better build quality, although i havent compared the two yet.
check harmony central for reviews and that should help. You should be able to pick up a reasonable 49 key controller for under £150 _________________ If In Doubt...Hit It With a Hammer, If Still In Doubt... Find a Bigger Hammer. |

In terms of specification you just want to check it has velocity sensitive keys (how fast you play them equates to volume in MIDI) and if it has after touch, another MIDI spec which plays another voicing after a period of time. _________________ It's all in the ears. - Learn the concepts not the software.

I am also looking for such a keyboard and probably I will buy a second-hand one (so that I could buy a better sound card, man I despise Creative). Can anyone recommend me any web site for this? |
