I reckon a proper producer should be able to work in any genre, being adaptive as well as generic. This way, you could drop a bit of 1930s jazz with some blistering heavy stuff. Take things out of context, and stuff.
With Alan Moulder, he' s produced U2, Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins, and it all (well, most of it) sounds different. Butch Vig, as well, Nirvana and Garbage? 2 totally different sounding groups. |

Neil, This is why i wrote 'theres a fine line between being dominant and easy going since it depends on the situation'. O.K. the word 'fine' wasn't in there but this is what i meant. Sometimes someone somewhere needs to act in order to get the ball rolling. Maybe the word 'dominant' is incorrect and the term 'Leader' should replace it. The leader would be the person who suggests ideas that put goals into perspective. Ofcourse the group will benefit if the leader is open minded and not taking charge from others with suggestions. This was just a possiblility, I wasn't saying that there NEEDS to be a leader in every situation, cause making music isn't like being in the army.
thanks andy c |
