Hey
I just bought an LA Audio CX2 two channel compressor from e-bay, anyone used one of these?
I havent had a chance to give it a good run yet but seems pretty solidly built, and it can be run as a half band compressor with adjustable crossover frequency or you can link the two channels and run as a dual band compressor.
I had a look inside too, nicely made, components are well spaced and it has an internal PSU, just an IEC in the back, nice not to have the old wall wart kicking about in the back of the rack.
I'll be using mainly live but also in the studio for vocals and/or guitar.
Comments appreciated

| CX2 first impressions |
|
|
Hi
I used it a couple of times in the past week, although only on small scale scale systems. first impressions are very good build quality, also very easy to use but i have not had a chance to play with the dual/half band feature yet so will update on that.
sound wise, it is very transparent, and very nice on vocals giving a nice warm sound without becoming muddy, compared to my Alesis 3630 which is quite harsh and solid, which i like to use on kick and snare.
Only negative points is metering is basic, just an LED gain reduction meter, but this is easy enough to get around with a bit of very simple "in-yer-head" maths. lol.
Overall a thumbs up, and definitely a bargain, around £60 plus postage, cant find the price they went for when new as they are discontinued now, would be nice to know judging by the quality and sound i would guess £200 perhaps, if less, its good value for money, and the fetching green front panel looks very pretty in my rack
i will put it through its paces on a good system soon, although the other day i used it on a very nice monitor rig (Camco Vortex driving Nexo PS15's) but it was a small stage with naf acoustics.
updates soon
