im not getting a full guitar sound  Reply with quote

hi im using a sm57 into a tascam mixer to my echo mia card in the analog inputs, and im not getting that professional full sound, that i hear even in local studios. heres a link to some of my recordings, though not the best ones, they were done mosty live. www.myspace.com/autumnkills ive been trying different things , miking different, aural exciter, i even went out and bought a presounis blue tube dp pre amp. but with the preamp, while i was doing a sound check, i looked at the level on the screen and it wasnt even at all, the decibles were reading the exact same in the left and right inputs. and i tried adding more tube in the settings and i got a really distorted sound when i put the preamp between the mixer and the comp, so that the preamp was getting every thing. can some one help me please? do i need to start using the digital inputs, get a new card or recording interface?
thanks alot - andrew

Hey!

Are you certain the sound is as you want it before you use a microphone?

Most of the guitar sound on a record is created before using a microhone.

After the Microphone  Reply with quote

The pre-amp comes right after the microphone.

I'd also try and keep the amount of "stuff" between your recorder and the microphone to a minimum.

Do all the processing once it is recorded.
